Hold-up performer who hasn't had many chances on an artificial surface. Kept on late after being caught wide at Wolverhampton last time, and better claims from an inside draw here.
Disappointing last time, but merits respect on the basis of two wins on Polytrack this season, and likelihood is that he will bounce straight back in this modest company.
Hasn't achieved much to date, but did promise more when fifth on debut for current yard at Wolverhampton last month, and entitled to do better with that run under his belt. Market useful.
No solid form in minor events, and finished last of all on handicap debut at Ffos Las in August. Hard to recommend.
Three wins from 60 starts tells a story, and he's been out of sorts for a while. No encouragement on return from a break at Wolverhampton recently, for all that might have been needed.
Not won since joining current yard before start of last season, and while he's well treated on old form, the fact that his once-prolific yard is firmly in the doldrums is a major concern.
Sole win came over C&D, and not long with current yard, which does well with similar types. Failed to justify market support at Wolverhampton last time, but better expected here.
Won over 6f at Brighton in July, and good fourth at Chepstow following month. Poor efforts since, though, and concern that she lacks the basic speed for this trip. Cheekpieces tried.
Has run well over C&D in the past and back to form after a break when third at Bath last time. Would have been much close but for hanging across the track there, and capable of making an impact.
Over two years since his last win, and he seems to have lost his way completely of late, faring no better in two runs for current yard.
Forecasts
Broughton Excels (3/1), Glyder (4/1), Hurricane Alert (9/2), Monarch Maid (9/2), Fly True (13/2), Kyllukey (12/1), Born To Boogie (20/1), Frank The Barber (20/1), Storm Trooper (33/1), Ticktocks (66/1)
The market will be informative, but BROUGHTON EXCELS isn't as exposed as his rivals, and hinted at better to come on handicap bow for his new yard. He is preferred to Fly True, who isn't long with Ivan Furtado, and is expected to be competitive back at the scene of her sole win to date. Monarch Maid rather lost her steering last time, but looked back in form, and should be competitive.
- Broughton Excels
- Fly True
- Monarch Maid
