Winner of a 1m2f seller at Ripon (good) at the end of August. Placed over this trip subsequently and return to this distance should suit following a disappointing effort over 1m6f two weeks ago.

Ended his two-year-old campaign with a win over 1m at Redcar (good-to-soft) in September last year. Gelded since and well held on seasonal debut at Nottingham (1m2f, good-to-soft) in April. Risky proposition at present.

Stepped up on his Ripon (2m, good) second when winning over an extended 1m4f at Newcastle last time. Raised 2lb for that success and a leading contender in this event.

Forecasts

Highway Robber (4/1), Clenymistra (9/2), Richard Strauss (5/1), Flower Power (11/2), Echo (8/1), Chica Da Silva (9/1), Allnite (14/1), Dizoard (16/1), Mistress Nellie (20/1), Miss Danby (20/1), Arizona Sunrise (50/1), Perusal (80/1)

Verdict

HIGHWAY ROBBER came good when winning on the AW last time out and he can defy a 2lb rise in the weights by taking this middle-distance handicap. Wilf Storey's charge stays this trip well and can see off Richard Strauss who finished third behind the selection last time out while third place can go to Clenymistra who should appreciate the return to this trip.
  1. Highway Robber
  2. Richard Strauss
  3. Clenymistra
