Winner at Hamilton on latest start (beat Jabbaar) and 3lb rise is fair, but of more concern would be soft ground, as he's disappointed a couple of times on soft/heavy and may be happier with less testing conditions; settled forecast helpful.

1m4f Listed winner in Ireland in 2017, but current connections are struggling to force his head in front, and the visor is now sought; handicap mark easing - now 10lb lower than when second at Ripon (1m4f, good to soft) in April.

Ultra-consistent since winning at Chester (1m4f+, good) in May, but paying the price to the assessor for those desirable traits; beaten just ½L by Archi's Affair at Hamilton (penultimate) and better off at the weights today (inc riders allowance).

Hasn't won since his 2yo debut here (6f, good to firm) in May 2017, but is now 6lb lower than when finishing second in the Listed European Free Handicap (7f) at Newmarket in April; runner-up on second attempt at 1m2f latest; stamina doubts.

Produced a solid effort at Chester (1m5f+, soft) earlier this month when beaten 1½L by Twin Star (today's rival Jabbaar third), but less encouraging on heavy ground at Ayr's Western Meeting (1m5f); has endured a busy spell of racing of late.

Has run to an almost identical level of form in each of his seven career starts; yet to score beyond 1m (AW novice), but placed three-times over 1m2f; more required on a softer surface from this mark.

€120,000 yearling; shown his best form on artificial surfaces so far (2-3), but hasn't really had the chance to cut his teeth in turf handicaps; 20/1 seventh of ten (to First Eleven) in an Ascot Class 2 latest; non-runner at Newmarket (Thursday).

Forecasts

Rashdan (3/1), Jabbaar (7/2), Come On Come On (7/2), Finniston Farm (9/2), Archi's Affaire (11/2), Past Master (11/2), Sky Eagle (6/1), Grandee (10/1), Super Kid (20/1)

Verdict

A tough finale with plenty of interwoven form-lines between the likes of Archi's Affair, Jabbaar and Super Kid. Rashdan is unexposed on turf and drops in class after struggling in a deep race at Ascot (latest), and it's notable that he turns up here in preference to at Newmarket (Thursday). However, the in-form progressive type is the late developing PAST MASTER. Clearly held back with an issue (or two) during his early racing career, Henry Candy has turned those various setbacks into positives throughout the course of 2018, and from a 3lb higher mark than at Salisbury, this ground versatile 5yo is taken to record a third win in his last four starts.
