Last of four on switch to hurdling earlier this month. Outpaced that day and although well-handicapped and the stable are in better form, he is best watched until showing more.
It took a drop into a Southwell class 5 to see him open his account over hurdles. That may boost his confidence but there are better handicapped horses in this.
Goes well for this rider but his last two wins have come off much lower marks. Has shown he can bounce back from mediocre performances and good ground is key.
Failed to shine in maiden/novice company for previous handler and his handicap debut for this yard signalled they have a lot on their plate.
Uttoxeter winner this month and returned there on Sunday when he looked the most likely winner after cruising to the front two out. The easier ground found him out in the closing stages and chance to make amends on this sounder surface.
Won a Ffos Las maiden hurdle for his previous stable almost two years ago. Lost his way when last seen and now with a yard who are 1-138 in past five seasons.
16-race maiden under both codes. Well-beaten on handicap hurdle debut but looks capable of finding a low grade race one day when his mark drops further.
26-race maiden outran odds of 40/1 when chasing home two useful looking hurdling recruits last time despite his rider losing an iron. He did not convince with his attitude, but he will be racing off 5lb higher next time.
Bangor winner who has stopped quickly on his two subsequent starts. Had wind surgery in between those efforts and possible the issues persisted.
Landed a class 5 at Uttoxeter in June when the drop in grade was said to have helped. Defeats since leave him just 2lb higher and, with his last three victories coming in large fields, he could rebound from his latest efforts. Has had wind surgery.
Five-time Flat winner should be capable of capitalising on his hurdling mark. Has looked one paced so far but has had wind surgery since a tame effort last time.
Changed hands for £42,000 having been placed in a point-to-point on good ground. Flattered by his Sandown second but potential to do better on this sounder surface.
Forecasts
Mauricio (5/2), Boychick (5/1), Way Out West (5/1), Excellent Team (7/1), Cape Caster (12/1), Top Decision (14/1), Aldrin (16/1), Marettimo (16/1), Shanroe Tic Tec (16/1), Vanderbilt (20/1), Stonecoldsoba (20/1), Sporty Yankee (100/1)
Top Decision is a dark horse for a yard that can launch a gamble. His point-to-point form would rate him a lot better than this. Boychick is yet to convince he relishes this sport, whilst Vanderbilt ran a blinder here last time, but as a long standing maiden the performance is treated with caution. Way Out West has more to than last time and as a result MAURICIO looks the one to be on. He travelled well for along way on Sunday only to find less than expected on the softer ground. That looked a better race than this and compensation awaits. Excellent Team is the danger.
