Having a profitable two-year-old season with three wins already under his belt and having struggled in a Salisbury Listed race he bounced back latest in a Doncaster handicap. More to do now at Group level but earnt the shot.

Won second start at Windsor when making all but was 2¼L behind Cardini when outclassed by potential superstar Too Darn Hot latest at Doncaster in Group Two Champagne Stakes. Could turn tables on that rival given relative inexperience.

Off the mark at the sixth time of asking at the Curragh penultimately and built on that with best run to date when third of six behind top class rival in Group Two Champagne Stakes. That form gives him a real chance and seems to still be improving.

Dual winner ran fine races when fourth in Group Two Coventry and second in Group Two Vintage Stakes but clearly didn't perform latest when 22L last of six at Sandown. Hopefully can bounce back and legitimate claims on best form.

Group One entry won takingly on debut over 1m at Goodwood despite greenness. Kept on for second next in Haydock Listed race, again over 1m. Improving and of serious potential but drop back to 7f here has to be considered a negative.

2,600,000gns Dubawi colt from an exceptional family made a huge impression on debut at Ascot when winning a hot 7f maiden. Form of that win working out well and considered a top prospect for next year's classics so expected to pass this test.

Taking winner of a Thirsk maiden on debut but could only manage fourth next behind leading Dewhurst contender Sangarius at Doncaster. Only beaten 4L however so still represented smart form but more needed here.

Forecasts

Cardini (5/2), Prince Eiji (11/4), Bye Bye Hong Kong (9/2), Arctic Sound (5/1), Dunkerron (15/2), Floating Artist (14/1), You Never Can Tell (20/1)

Verdict

PRINCE EIJI is among the best bred horses in training and he suggested that he could justify his huge purchase price on debut when a very impressive winner of a maiden contested by Bangkok (goes in race 1 today) who had given leading Dewhurst and 2000 Guineas contender Sangarius a race on debut. It will be disappointing if he isn't up to this en-route to bigger races down the road. Cardini probably has the best from on offer based on his Champagne Stakes third behind the best two-year-old we've seen this season so merits respect. Floating Artist is also of plenty of potential and on the shortlist.
  1. Prince Eiji
  2. Cardini
  3. Floating Artist
