Has dropped to a 2lb lower mark than his last winning one but not been in the best of form lately. Capable on a going day though if bouncing back to his best and not easily dismissed here dropping in trip.

Didn't seem to stay 1m3f at Goodwood last time but was a story of steady improvement prior to that with a win and a second at Haydock. Up another 3lb as new mark kicks in which makes life tougher.

Previous C&D winner who has only had four starts so far in 2018 and hasn't shown a great deal. Starting to look dangerously well handicapped now and it would be no surprise were he to bounce back to form.

Previous C&D winner who got back to winning ways at Haydock in July. Ran a cracker again at Doncaster last time and impossible to dismiss in current mood.

Best effort so far when just failing at Wolverhampton (1m4f, AW) last time. Races off a 4lb lower mark on turf and is completely unexposed at this trip. Leading player with more to come.

Unlucky to still be a maiden having run well in defeat on several of his starts. Not so good the last twice but still relatively unexposed and there should be more to come.

Scored on his third start at Thirsk (1m, good) in novices' company in July. Two disappointing efforts so far in handicaps including when sent off a well backed favourite at Newmarket. Too early to write off and should be capable of better.

Form has been a bit in-and-out so far this year and still yet to conclusively prove he stays this far. Not on a bad mark and excellent young rider claims a handy 7lb. Could bounce back.

Bounced back to form with a win over 1m2f at Ripon two starts back off a 4lb lower mark. Struggled up in grade at York next time and likely to find this company more to his liking and should be capable of bouncing back.

Dual winner over this trip on good/good to soft this season, the more recent of those at Chepstow being from 2lb lower. Well held in better company last time, but this is easier and looks to have pretty clear claims.

Gained second success of the campaign latest when beating a subsequent winner at Brighton under today's excellent apprentice jockey. Certainly merits respect with 3lb rise fair enough.

Only had one win in 15 starts now and hasn't looked like adding to that tally of late. Well held again at Carlisle last time and whilst mark continues to fall, others have stronger claims.

Veteran who bounced back to form over 1m at Ayr last time when just failing. This trip/ground no problem and remains on a very handy mark. Dangerous to dismiss.

Winner at Hamilton off a 4lb lower mark in June. Not so good since and this drop in trip is not certain to suit as he seems more comfortable over further these days.

Forecasts

Legal History (7/2), Gododdin (9/2), Victory Chime (11/2), Epaulement (13/2), Stonific (9/1), Roddy (10/1), Rhosneigr (12/1), Indomeneo (14/1), Silvery Moon (16/1), Perisher (20/1), Briardale (22/1), Maghfoor (28/1), Save The Bees (33/1), Duke Of Yorkshire (100/1)

Verdict

Legal History took a step forward at Wolverhampton last time and remains unexposed at this trip back on turf. Save The Bees remains in great heart but may just be vulnerable to some younger legs in here. Gododdin was a good winner last time and remains capable of better. Preference is for VICTORY CHIME who was a good winner at Chepstow before struggling in a higher grade last time. This is more suitable and he can get back to winning ways.
  1. Victory Chime
  2. Legal History
  3. Gododdin
