Won over this trip at Catterick in July and generally in good form since. Has been placed once on soft ground but there has to be a suspicion she needs a firmer surface to be seen at her best.

Unexposed - raced just once on turf on the Flat but has also raced in bumpers., so likely to appreciate this step up in trip. Worth a betting check.

Got off the mark at the first time of asking for her new yard but has since reverted to type and become expensive to follow again. Poor effort latest and one to treat with caution.

Out of form and very hard to put too much faith in the gelding given his poor recent profile. Even the eye-catching jockey booking isn't enough to bolster his claims beyond a modest chance at best.

Irish raider with some decent form to his name. Acts on the ground an no issues with this sort of distance. One to bear in mind in this company.

Finished sixth but not beaten far at Ayr on Thursday, so merits plenty of respect in his current frame of mind. Career-best effort still required, though.

A consistent hurdler but also shown the ability to handle racing on the Flat. Latest effort one of his best yet in this sphere, so worth a betting check at least.

Acts well at this track and not ruled out when the pick of his form is taken into account. Has run the odd stinker, though, and not one in whom to place maximum faith.

In the process of running a decent race when hampered and brought down at Down Royal earlier this month. Safe to assume she's unscathed from the experience but it's now over three years since her last win. Risks attached.

A ten-race maiden that has rarely threatened to get her head in front. Behind Traditional Dancer when sporting first-time headgear last time and not hard to overlook on this occasion.

Torthai An Ghra16
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-7| J: David Egan| T: A McGuinness| OR:  45

A long-standing maiden that has faltered on too many occasions to be merit a solid recommendation for win only purposes. Won't mind any further rain, however, so worth noting if the heavens were to open.

Forecasts

Palindrome (9/4), Calliope (9/2), Traditional Dancer (5/1), Princess Nearco (7/1), Last Garrison (8/1), Torthai An Ghra (12/1), New Abbey Angel (14/1), Nearly There (14/1), Unite The Clans (25/1), Dark Amber (28/1), Purdey (40/1)

Verdict

A race full of pitfall from a punting perspective and only a tentative vote of confidence is passed on about LAST GARRISON, who has fewer questions to answer than most and gets the nod on the theory about his ability to handle cut in the ground over this sort of distance. Traditional Dancer has ability under both codes and, having shown improvement last time out, merits a betting check. Nearly There and New Abbey Angel are a couple of others who make the grade on the best of their previous form and are worth bearing in mind as alternative choices; while drying ground will help Calliope cope with the burden of topweight.
  1. Last Garrison
  2. Traditional Dancer
  3. Nearly There
