Lining up for his 30th race of the year. and seeking his seventh win of the campaign. Showed he can compete off his current lofty mark when an excellent fourth from a poor draw last week. Hard to rule out from another tricky draw.
Solid AW performer and C&D winner who went close in another hot handicap here three weeks ago. Tough draw to overcome but he should get the strong gallop he appreciates.
Change of tactics worked admirably when making all to spring a surprise in the London Mile final at Kempton. Just 4lb higher but facing more competition for the lead and jockey bookings suggest Maaward is yard's number one.
Won three races in Italy including sole AW start and also placed in Group 3 company. That form hard to evaluate but he needs to improve on last week's stable debut.
Has got up late to win the Bunbury Cup consolation and an 80k prize at Leopardstown this year. Makes AW debut on a sharper track than may be ideal and an inside draw leaves him requiring luck in running.
Back to form when landing a quite valuable 7f Newbury handicap for the second year in a row under this jockey. 6lb higher and yet to make the first three on the AW
Easy Kempton winner on reappearance and clung on gamely when again making all there last month. The fourth, beaten 13L, has scored since and he does not look overburdened on handicap debut.
Has held his form well despite the attentions of the handicapper. Another potential front-runner, but suspicion he may want a stiffer track than this.
C&D winner who is improving at a rapid rate lately and needs to find a lot more up 8lb in much stronger company.
Hinted at better to come when third of 12, not far behind Solar Flair, at Goodwood. Disappointing favourite last time, but has first run over this trip since his last success here in November off 3lb higher
Did not get the run of the race when easily beaten by Glenglade here last month. 7lb better off but the winner appeared to have at least that in hand.
Forecasts
Maaward (3/1), War Glory (5/1), Glenglade (5/1), Zap (5/1), Boy In The Bar (8/1), Poet's Society (8/1), Papa Stour (10/1), Charles Molson (20/1), Squats (25/1), Three Saints Bay (25/1), Pettifogger (50/1)
A typically hot class 2 handicap for the venue and a case can be made for most. Charles Molson, Poets Society, and Boy In The Bar are proven around here in hot company with the former sure to appreciate what promises to be a strong pace. MAAWARD, Three Saints Bay and Glenglade are progressive three-year-olds. The selection makes his handicap debut having beaten a good field at Kempton and showing a lot of determination to come out on top. His handicap mark looks just about right but there may be more to come on just his fourth start.
- Maaward
- Charles Molson
- Glenglade
