Three time Dundalk AW winner over 1m4f was far from disgraced on stable debut in competitive Northumberland Vase over 2m at Newcastle in June. Absence since a concern but this sort of trip could be ideal so chance if fit enough.

Scorer over 2m at Kempton in January has struggled in two starts this summer in hot handicaps and Newcastle and Ascot. This more realistic level but will need a step up if he's to get involved.

Didn't perform at all after 1m4f York win early in the season until a slight sign of improvement latest at Ascot when fifth of seven. Raced at 1m4f and 2m this season so trip here could be ideal and first-time visor fitted.

Dual winner at Kempton this year (1m3f and 1m4f) and looked likely to appreciate further in both as well as latest fourth at Haydock. Trainer always feared when upping them in trip and with top jockey booked he is a leading player.

Won twice in June at Haydock (1m6f) and Goodwood (2m) before finding Royal Ascot marathon (2m5f) beyond him. Had a break since but was clearly in very good form before that so can't be ignored here.

Dual 1m4f winner this season has raced over this trip the last twice with a fourth at Chelmsford and third at Haydock latest on heavy ground. Seems to stay but will need more nevertheless.

Maiden has been placed in all three races since upped to this distance. Latest second at Ffos Las another positive effort and could still be improving so has to be considered with weight receipt from all here.

Forecast

Sharja Silk (9/4), Elegiac (3/1), Magellan (3/1), Okool (10/3), Percy's Word (4/1), Financial Conduct (8/1), Uber Cool (17/2), Lord George (22/1), Manjaam (25/1)

Verdict

Roger Charlton is renowned for his patience and it can pay off here with the scopey four-year-old MAGELLAN who has won three of his last five starts all while looking likely to be even better over this sort of trip. Sharja Silk is certainly a big danger and this improving three-year-old should get off the mark sooner rather than later over this sort of trip. Uber Cool was running well earlier in the season so if he returns at that sort of level he should go well too.
  1. Magellan
  2. Sharja Silk
  3. Uber Cool
