Verdict

The Western Meeting of 2018 kicks-off with a 1m juvenile contest, and it's a guessing game as to which of these youngsters will best handle the rain-softened ground. Those with obvious form claims include the Salisbury Listed runner-up Dark Jedi (Charles Hills), the steadily improving €230,000 yearling Takumi (Roger Varian), and the exciting looking Kingman colt GEORGE MALLORY (Kevin Ryan). Although the top-weight is the safest overall option, his price will reflect that fact, so we'll side with the Ryan-trained runner who looked to be a horse in development when highly tried behind the ill-fated Commanding Officer in York's Convivial Maiden Stakes (7f).
  1. George Mallory
  2. Takumi
  3. Dark Jedi
