€160,000 Kodiac colt won on debut at Maisons Laffitte over 6f but could never get involved in subsequent Group Three again in France. Not easy to gauge his form but tough to give weight to promising rivals.

Much improved in second start when taking a 6f Newmarket maiden before appearing to be in need of a step up in trip when outpaced next in France. Should fare better for 7f but 3lb penalty makes this a tough task nevertheless.

Middle distance bred colt got off the mark despite hanging left at Lingfield in penultimate start winning by 10L. Disappointing next when third in Newbury Group Three although winner there probably high class. Big chance at this level.

Footstepsinthesand half-brother to several winners, including useful 1m1f winner Fastnet Mist was a most pleasing second of 10 on debut here over C&D when headed in the last stride. Trainer's two-year-olds improve for debut so big player here.

Verdict

Runaway Lingfield winner GOOD FORTUNE looked a group horse in that success but was a quite remote third at that level next at Newbury. It is too early however to discount him with that success hard to forget and he has an excellent chance to add another success here. Walkinthesand is the most feared rival after going so close to a debut success over C&D and he ought to improve as his trainer's two-year-olds generally do. Sir Michael Stoute wouldn't be pitching Laafy in at this level unless he had showed plenty so he isn't underestimated.
  1. Good Fortune
  2. Walkinthesand
  3. Laafy
