Half-brother to winners, but barely a glimmer of promise in four runs to date, and not even a drop to claiming level makes him of interest.

Four Wheel Drive13
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-1| J: G Lee| T: D H Brown| OR:  70

Front-runner who ran well when runner-up at Southwell on penultimate start, and not discredited when 3½L fourth of 12 to Mr Diamond in a 5f nursery at Carlisle last time. This is easier, and he's respected.

Best effort to date when 6L sixth of 7 in a Kempton novice in April, but even that isn't solid, and he's run badly since. Cheekpieces reached for now.

Finished a fair third in a 6f claiming contest at Lingfield (good/ firm) in July, and similar form on first two starts in nurseries. Below form last time, but has place claims if bouncing back.

Not disgraced in a C&D novice auction in July, but soundly beaten on either side of that effort, and form is not really good enough to give him a chance even if bouncing back.

Cuban Gold54

Has a sprinting pedigree, and hinted at ability when last of 11 at York (7f) on debut. Gelded since, and should be more competitive dropped in trip. Not completely ruled out.

Sharp And Sharper19
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: K Stott| T: Miss A Murphy| OR:  53

No stranger to sellers and claimers, but has finished no closer than fourth in as many tries at this sort of level, and finished last in a nursery on latest outing. Has plenty to find.

Dam won twice here at a modest level, and is a half-sister to useful sprinter Bowson Fred. Badly needed experience when last of 10 at Ripon last month, but drops in class and should know more now.

Rainbow Beach8
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: T Hamilton| T: R Fell & S Murray| OR:  51

Has shown a degree of speed in three races at 6f/7f so far, but has delivered no end product. Drops in trip and class, which gives her more of a chance, but still hard to fancy.

Has run with credit in all but one of her seven starts to date, and improved a little for fitting of cheekpieces in a Deauville maiden last time. Will surely go close from a good draw.

Half-sister to several winners at this trip, but showed little when last of 14 in a C&D novice on debut. Did get hampered at the start that day, so perhaps best forgiven that effort.

Daughter of Tagula who improved from debut when close third of 18 to Chains of Love in valuable seller at York in June. Not sighted since, but every chance if reproducing that effort from a wide draw.

Not gone on from a couple of promising 5f efforts in the spring, but those runs give her solid claims here, and perhaps the return to this trip and drop in class will see her more competitive.

North Korea22
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-5| J: A Mullen| T: P D Evans| OR:  66| D
9/1
Showed improved form to get off the mark making her nursery debut at Lingfield in July, and big chance on that form, but she's been below form in three runs since. Drop in grade will help, though, and considered.

Forecasts

Elieden (11/4), Samantha James (7/2), Four Wheel Drive (11/2), Islay Mist (15/2), North Korea (9/1), Queen Of Scheme (14/1), Bouncin Back (14/1), Rainbow Beach (16/1), Sharp And Sharper (25/1), Champagne Clouds (25/1), Cuban Gold (25/1), Geography Teacher (50/1), Annie's Bow (66/1), Nettie Honeyball (100/1)

Verdict

ELIEDEN will go down as wearing cheekpieces for the first time here, but she actually sported them at Deauville last time, and posted an improved effort. A repeat will suffice in this lesser contest, unless Samatha James can bounce back to the form she showed in the spring. North Korea has solid place claims, and one who could outrun bigger odds is Annie's Bow, who badly needed her debut run, and is well drawn if she's learnt from that - her dam was a dual C&D winner for connections.
