Justified favouritism in good fashion at Doncaster, making it a then two wins from five starts before a well-held third in Group 3 company. Open to further progress in handicaps and should be competitive.

Two from five on the AW but was well held when upped in trip on handicap debut. Bred to be suited by this extra test but didn't convince at Chelmsford and needs to find more on turf debut.

Saw out the trip strongly when gaining a second course win last time and possible he could be suited by this stiffer test. Clearly prefers to race here and 6lb rise not insurmountable, looks a leading contender.

Tough ask in the Melrose at York following a second win for his current trainer at Doncaster. Was proving progressive and class and trip didn't suit. Could bounce back but seems better suited at 1m2f.

Son of Frankel who progressed on each of his first four starts culminating in a stylish handicap debut win at Beverley. Below that when upped in class at Goodwood, however the soft ground looked unsuitable. One to keep on the right side of.

Broke through on his fifth start when far too good for lesser opposition at Wolverhampton. Open to plenty of improvement providing he can transfer form back to turf but this will be much tougher.

Forecasts

Hamlul (15/8), Bombyx (2/1), Great Beyond (7/2), Shuhood (8/1), Protected Guest (10/1), Three Weeks (22/1)

Verdict

Great Beyond seemed to be showing the benefits of wind surgery on his second run back when bolting up on the AW and clearly has talent, however this is a different level of opposition. HAMLUL is likewise lightly-raced and didn't seem to be able to quicken on a soft surface at Goodwood but this quicker ground and extra distance should be ideal. Bombyx was given an extremely tough task in Group company but is a talented handicapper in the making while Protected Guest loves this track and hit the line in his second win here in a fashion that suggested there's more to come upped in trip.
  1. Hamlul
  2. Protected Guest
  3. Bombyx
