Looking fairly well exposed already and not progressing, fourth at Sandown on latest start suggested this step back in trip may help and does at least have a decent piece of form on heavy ground, but others still make more appeal.

Seemed to respond to a pair of cheekpieces at Hamilton last time, posting best effort to date, and switch of headgear could easily eke out a bit more. Ground an unknown factor but looks more progressive than a few here. One to be interested in.

Good effort from the front at Hamilton last time out, worn down late but that was a clear improvement in form. That was on quick ground though, so totally different conditions to face here, but is at least going the right way.

Had no chance against an easy long odds-on winner at Newcastle last time but it wasn't a bad effort, although a tendency to hang left won't necessarily help his cause here if repeating it. Still has a bit to prove and others preferred.

Didn't seem to get home over 7f last time so drop back to 6f looks a plus and she only found one too good in soft ground at Thirsk the time before. Repeat of that makes her a contender, especially as she's more proven in conditions than a few.

Has run to a similar level on all three starts so far but isn't progressing and now connections try a tongue-tie to help out. Heavy ground could pose problems if he's got breathing issues and on balance, others make more appeal.

Won't be failing for a lack of stamina (stays 7f well) and has gone okay on good to soft ground, so has some positives but she probably needs a small step forward on what she's achieved so far to challenge for the top prize.

Form already seems to have plateaued and he's not progressive at present. In the frame last three starts but in truth has been well beaten and plenty to prove under today's conditions.

First start for new yard (formerly with Nigel Tinkler), hasn't shown a lot in three starts but has relatives that loved soft/heavy ground and could improve for the underfoot conditions. Watch the market for a clue.

Forecasts

Summer Blossom (7/2), Triple Distilled (9/2), Mayfair Spirit (9/2), So Hi Storm (6/1), Silver Dust (6/1), Big Boots (13/2), Abie's Hollow (8/1), Forcetoreckon (10/1), Irv (12/1), My Boy Lewis (16/1), Furyan (20/1), Uncle Norman (28/1)

Verdict

There's next to no form on heavy ground to go on here, and some caution has to be advised. Big Boots does have a second on deep ground to his name but isn't progressing. IRV could be the one as he stuck on well at Thirsk last time, and the stiffer track/slower ground combination might bring a bit more out in him. Forcetoreckon is another that has some soft ground form to her name and this 6f trip ls likely to suit her better than the 7f she tried last time. If there's to be a boilover, it could be Uncle Norman.
