A son of outstanding two-year-old sire Kodiac out of an unraced dam from a smart family of winners at around 1m. Should have pace for this trip but best watched having folded easily on debut at the Curragh last time over 6f.

€21,000 yearling colt out of an Invincible Spirit mare by the sire Alhebayeb, shaped with some purpose before being beaten 4L on debut at Fairyhouse (6f, good to firm) in May. Off since, can do better in time.
Camacho filly who cost £42,000 as a yearling, well beaten in 6f Listed contest at the Curragh on debut, improved back there in 5f maiden since and can throw hat in the ring here.

By Big Bad Bob out of a Listed placed 5f-6f winner including at two from a speedy Scandinavian family. Started last month over a mile at Cork, may find this trip more to liking at this stage.

Has speed on both sides but doesn't catch the eye on pedigree. Sent off 150/1 in a 6f Wolverhampton maiden three days ago, raced prominently before dropping back rapidly from the 2f pole.

Kodiac filly is a half-sister to juvenile 7f winner Leeshaan. Dam once-raced half-sister to top-class middle distance winner Rip Van Winkle.
Slade Power filly whose dam, a 1m winner, was a half-sister to smart winner up to 1m2f Leshlaa. Best watched unless market says different.

Daughter of Battle Of Marengo bought for €3,000 as a yearling last September. Promising start in 5f Tipperary maiden when beaten only 2¾L last month, though nowhere near as good on the AW at Dundalk next time. May bounce back on turf.

Nothing of note in four disappointing career starts, including over 5f here in June, and requires a chunk of improvement to play a role here.

Forecasts

Compton's Finale (3/1), Chestnut Express (4/1), That's Mad (9/2), Saltillo (5/1), On The Bob (12/1), That's Not Me (14/1), Knockgraffon Lass (14/1), Lady Marengo (16/1), Ice Bullet (16/1), Sister Slade (25/1), Magi Gal (33/1), Slainte (66/1)

Verdict

CHESTNUT EXPRESS has run in two decent contests at the Curragh so far and get a decent chance to get off the mark now. He may not need to improve to gain the prize. Compton's Finale has shaped well in both starts at Tipperary and Bellewstown and looks a danger. Saltillo ran well enough at Fairyhouse in May and can improve while Lady Marengo will have an each-way shout if reproducing her debut effort at Tipperary, where she had Compton's Finale behind.
  1. Chestnut Express
  2. Compton's Finale
  3. Lady Marengo
