Would beat these hollow on the best of his form but some time since he showed that, and he takes another drop in grade here after finishing well beaten at York. Off such a low mark, can't be discounted. Market could be the best guide.

Has been there or thereabouts on his last four starts without threatening to win one, rather suggesting the handicapper just about has him where he wants him at present. May be happier on an easier track too. Others preferred.

Right back to form when scoring at Leicester last time, making all, but track favoured front runners that day and she might find life harder from 4lb higher. Nevertheless, as a C&D winner in July, is entitled to respect.

Looking very well handicapped on the best of his form now and after a string of moderate efforts, showed a little more when fourth at Ayr last time. Needs to build on that, but not discounted if he can.

Second start for this yard after leaving Ian Jardine, didn't run badly when hitting the frame at Pontefract latest but even that was moderate form, and he needs to find more here.

Came good at Wolverhampton in July but then threw in a poor one back there last time out, which is a concern. Won't mind however much rain falls, but inconsistency means he can't be backed with any great confidence.

Only had the six starts, so open to improvement, and turned in best effort to date when third over 6f here last time out (soft ground). Cheekpieces given a go today, which may well help, and he looks one of the more likely ones here.

Winner at Ayr in June, justifying favouritism but since then has thrown in three much lesser efforts and now connections reach for a tongue-tie to try and turn his fortunes around. May not want any more rain either. Risky.

Just the four wins in 46 starts and been some time since he won at this trip, racing mainly over 7f and a mile these days. Stamina assured for this then, but not in any great form and not hard to look elsewhere for the winner.

Winner at Newcastle last month and then had little chance from a wide draw at Pontefract last time out, so that run easily enough forgiven. Conditions fine but probably needs a bit more now new mark has kicked in.

Yet to win in nine starts and this will be second run for new yard, is knocking on the door but worrying he can't kick it down and now tries a third set of new headgear. Ability is there if he can put it all in, and not discounted.

Pops up from time to time and is a C&D winner but has been soundly beaten on his last three starts (including over F&D) and hard to make much of a case for in current frame of mind.

Forecasts

Rasheeq (9/2), Giant Spark (9/2), Extrasolar (9/2), Roys Dream (5/1), Chaplin Bay (7/1), Sfumato (9/1), Avenue Of Stars (10/1), Fard (12/1), Lucky Beggar (12/1), Berlios (16/1), Scenery (20/1), Royal Connoisseur (25/1), Dodgy Bob (66/1)

Verdict

A few of these have a bit to prove. FARD is given the vote in the hope that the cheekpieces enable him to take another step forward as he's open to plenty of improvement if they do, and these conditions hold no terrors for him. Extrasolar is having a cracking season and will be hard to kick out of the frame, and although Roy's Dream is going up again in the weights, she likes this track and is hard to discount. Any money for Giant Spark would make him a bit more interesting too.
