Won twice on the Flat in 2016, when also successful over hurdles and fences, and better run since returning from a long absence when second over hurdles at Perth in June. On a fair mark for Flat return, and market will guide.

Stepped up on reappearance at this venue when 1½L second of 10 to Dell' Arca in amateur event at Newbury last time. Type to hold his form now back in the groove, and not easily dismissed from calculations.

Had been knocking at the door before winning 1¼m maiden handicap at Brighton last month. Spreadeagled rivals there, but up 6lb in a stronger race now, and stiffer questions asked, including of her stamina.

Well held on the Flat this year, but has been shaping up well over hurdles more recently, and would have gone close but for losing his footing at Newton Abbot last month. Not dismissed out of hand, by any means.

Hasn't progressed as expected, and beaten a fair way when third at Salisbury in May. Not disgraced on handicap bow at Sandown in July, though, and could improve now tackling longer trip (dam a useful winner over 1m5f).

Below form on both starts over hurdles this year, and fared no better back on Flat at Chepstow last month. Opposable once more.

Won over this trip in Guernsey in May, and some fair efforts since, but ran poorly on Polytrack at Chelmsford last month, and needs to bounce back.

Won her first three starts of the season at up to this trip, and dangerous to assume she has reached her limit after getting beaten at Beverley last time. Cheekpieces may help her eke out more improvement, and one to bear in mind still.

Forecasts

Altra Vita (15/8), Brexitmeansbrexit (11/4), With Pleasure (11/4), Sky Marshal (6/1), Whispering Sands (8/1), Impulsive American (10/1), American History (18/1), Ochos Rios (25/1), English Pale (33/1)

Verdict

It's highly debatable whether ALTRA VITA has reached her limit based on her latest defeat over 2m at Beverley, and she is taken to get back to winning ways with cheekpieces applied back in trip. Impulsive American isn't easy to assess, but comes here after a good run over hurdles, and is fairly handicapped on his 2016 form; a market move for him would look significant, while American History is another to bear in mind based on recent efforts over timber.
