Five-time hurdles winner who won on chasing debut despite his jumping rather than because of it at Southwell. Main rivals here all rated better over hurdles so tougher task and will need to jump better.

The best of these over hurdles and indeed good enough to run in last year's Champion. Disappointing chase debut when well behind All Set To Go at Southwell but surely capable of better.

Useful hurdler for Brian Ellison who starts out for new yard here. Only previous chase saw him fall after several blunders and returns from lengthy absence so easy to look elsewhere.

Moderate maiden over hurdles (five races) and a long way behind these. Looks a near impossible task on chase debut.

Forecasts

John Constable (4/5), All Set To Go (11/8), Flying Tiger (5/2), Dear Sire (11/4), Zaidiyn (15/2), By Rail (25/1)

Verdict

DEAR SIRE won well first time over fences at Cartmel before hitting the deck latest when still on the bit two out. He can get back to winning ways here and use chasing experience to his advantage, Flying Tiger certainly has the potential to win a race like this based on his smart hurdles form and is only passed over because of his lack of chasing experience. John Constable disappointed first time over fences but shouldn't be written off just yet.
  1. Dear Sire
  2. Flying Tiger
  3. John Constable
