Arrives in good form, having won here over C&D in July, run well next time and then won with a career-best effort at Thirsk last time. Up another 5lb, so more needed, but enters calculations.
Has won both fast and softer ground, and is back on the same mark as his most recent win, at Catterick in March (7f). Well held in all starts since, so has questions to answer, but might find a response easier now dropped to this grade.
Was a C&D maiden winner in 2016 (good), when with Richard Fahey. Added a second success for this trainer, when 3lb lower, at Leicester (7f) in June. Has run well in 3-4 starts since. Each-way claims.
Won a Carlisle novices' event in July last year (6f, good to firm). Looked to have been given a fair mark on handicap debut here in July, but well held by the winner. Drops 2lb and headgear now applied. Not ruled out.
0-5. Not disgraced when 4½L fifth of 14 at Newbury (1m, good to firm) last time. 2lb drop and 5lb also claimed. Still a bit to prove.
Scored here with some authority over 1m½f last time, for which he carries a penalty. The manner of that success suggests that he needs taking very seriously over this slightly shorter trip.
7lb higher than when scoring at Leicester (7f, heavy) in April. Has made marginal improvements since. More needed, but not ruled out.
Only out of the first two once all year so far, including a C&D win. Seeks a hat-trick after backing that up last time. Stable among the winners. Should be a leading player.
Won a C&D maiden (good to firm) last year. Yet to win a turf handicap and despite his latest 2lb drop here, he looks up against it.

Forecasts
Poet's Dawn (9/4), Pepys (9/2), Areen Heart (9/2), Proud Archi (11/2), Beverley Bullet (6/1), Ingenuity (7/1), Inviolable Spirit (10/1), Right Action (14/1), Magillen (16/1), Dark Profit (16/1), Equiano Springs (33/1)
Beverley Bullet would be an aptly-named winner on this day and looks set to go well again, bur this could go to POET'S DAWN, who won with a bit in hand here last time and looks capable of defying a penalty. Proud Archi is a big danger, Pepys another, while Magillen is not ruled out.
