Won with authority in testing conditions back in April over 6f and has since proved that she can handle this mark although the trip still remains a little bit of a doubt. Chased home a capable sort on the AW (6f) last time and respected here.
Has so far failed to match her 2017 form when she won five handicaps including one over C&D although she has on occasions threatened to come good. Runs this course well but needs to overcome recent disappointments against some improving types.
All her form this year and indeed all her good winning form has come over shorter trips this year much of it on the AW. Looked lack-lustre and rather rusty after a break last time out and this trip isn't sure to revive her.
Listed winner as a two-year-old (won three times overall at 5/6f) she's yet to win this year despite turning in some respectable efforts. The handicapper is starting to relent a little and forcing tactics over this trip/track may be ideal.
Her form prior to her C&D win here last time had taken on a rather uneven look with a run of three runner-up slots preceding a poor display at Doncaster. Showed a good attitude here last time though; now off a 3lb higher mark in a bid to repeat.
In much better form earlier in the year winning back-to-back races at Ripon/Pontefract over 6f but has to a certain extent struggled since then in handicaps. Tried over 5f last time that trip proved far too sharp; something to prove here upped to 7f.
Forecasts
Crotchet (5/2), Richenza (11/4), Rebel Assault (3/1), Whatsthemessage (6/1), Angels (9/1), Oriental Lilly (20/1)
This small-field handicap could turn into a tactical affair and it won’t be a surprise to see REBEL ASSAULT grasp the nettle and go from the front from her handy low draw with the handicapper now starting to give her a chance. Richenza has the form in the book to win this but has still to win at the trip something that Crotchet has done when winning over C&D last time and she may well emerge to be the biggest danger. Whatsthemessage is another C&D winner but she rather needs to find her form having looked to struggle a little of late and isn’t in the same form as last year.
- Rebel Assault
- Crotchet
- Richenza
