19lb lower now than just over a year ago having really lost his way despite being favourably handicapped on the best of his old form it is hard to see him striking on evidence of recent runs.

One of two in this event representing last year's wining stable and is partnered by last year's wining jockey. Scored over this trip at Ayr in July but beaten twice since but seems to get on well with his lady rider.

Decent juvenile for William Knight, winning on debut, but has been on a downward spiral for three years and it's hard to see him popping up after some dismal efforts over the last 12 months.

Came from off the pace to win at Redcar three weeks ago and not disgraced over 7f last time. Hard to know if high draw will help but is one of the likelier types and is a previous C&D winner.

Running consistently this term without managing to get his head in front. Good jockey booking catches the eye so chances are he is expected to put up a bold show once again.

Won over C&D last time out and won fair and square. 6lb rise in his mark is fairly tough but clearly likes this venue and has a very capable rider to help his cause.

Has scored twice over 7f on the AW since the winter and has appeared better on that surface than turf. Top lady rider has been booked suggesting shrewd yard might well fancy their chances so would be wise to take a close look.

Tremendous veteran who has won 21 races from 141 starts. Returns from a 100-day break and usually needs a few runs to reach concert pitch so others are preferred on this occasion.

Only win in 18 starts came on the AW at Newcastle and ran well on that surface this spring. Fairly handicapped on best form and experienced jockey should aid the cause.

Ex-Irish 12-race maiden, made favourite on first start for current yard when second over 7f at Ayr last month. Has had wind surgery since and yard doing very well with its few runners of late.

Represents last year's winning yard and scored earlier in the season at Wetherby. Has come down the weights having been in-and-out since but would have a squeak if back on song.

Winner of seven races and has been in good form this term with two successes, the latest coming at Catterick in June. 2lb higher now but is a previous C&D winner.

Finally off the mark at the 37th time of asking when a surprise winner at Chepstow last time. Whether he can do it again remains to be seen off a 2lb higher mark.

19 races without success since joining current yard last year and is hardly a model of consistency. Overall profile suggests he might find it tough again.

Verdict

A real cavalry charge here and a speculative suggestion is DARK CONFIDANT who has been showing speed but not getting home over further. The drop back in trip should help. Vallarta represents last year's winning connections and won't be far away, and both Mitchum and Racquet are good sorts in this type of event. Last time out scorer Sir Derrick, Jackson Fire and Ti Amo are others to consider.
  1. Dark Confidant
  2. Ti Amo
  3. Vallarta
