Both of her wins have come at this track (7f) and she's certainly capable of making her mark in this grade despite top-weight. However, she's yet to go beyond the extended 1m (Wolverhampton), and whilst her pedigree offers hope, it's an unknown.
Off for 13 months after winning at Doncaster in April 2017 (1m4f, good to firm), but put in a bold show from the front (faded) to finish 4L fourth of eight to Wor Lass at Musselburgh (1m6f) in June; down 2lb and in trip.
Off the mark at Newmarket in July (1m2f, good to firm), but unable to find a finishing kick when a beaten 5/4f here next time (1m2f); new trip could see her in a better light, so shouldn't be far away.
Hard to argue that she's progressing quickly, but this 260,000 gns Shamardal filly (and daughter of the classy Islington) made the frame off a slow pace at Newmarket latest (behind Point Of Time), and this rates as a realistic next assignment.
Raised 4lb for her breakthrough win, which came off a steady pace at Newmarket recently (Floria Tosca finished just 1L third), but had run well over this C&D (good to soft) prior to that, so should be there or thereabouts.
Seemingly getting her act together, and ran her best race on turf so far (second run of the season) when just held by Purple Jazz at Lingfield (1m3.5f) last month; however, this looks to be a shade more competitive on paper.
Back from three months off, and showed clear improvement when a staying on fifth in a 1m2f novice stakes at Windsor two weeks ago; should be competitive off this mark on handicap bow (up in trip), and the market could prove informative.
Forecasts
Point In Time (2/1), Floria Tosca (3/1), Gravina (5/1), Dependable (8/1), Moonlight Silver (9/1), The Last Debutante (10/1), Cheerfilly (11/1)
A trappy looking fillies handicap in which a case of sorts can be made for just about each and every runner. There's very little to choose between Point In Time and Floria Tosca on Newmarket form, but this race should be run at a much healthier gallop with The Last Debutante likely to take them along from the outset. This could potentially suit GRAVINA who admittedly looked to be a shade one-paced when a beaten favourite over 1m2f here just under three weeks ago, but hopefully this extra two furlongs should see her in a more positive light (her dam was a 1m4f winner).
- Gravina
- Floria Tosca
- The Last Debutante
