Has fallen a whopping 14lb in the weights since May, and competes in this grade for the first time since winning at Musselburgh in October 2017 (7f, soft); conditions plenty quick enough and tough to fancy at present.
A four-time (successive) 7f winner in 2017 who appears to handle most conditions; paid for those exertions in terms of his handicap mark, but equally has failed to truly deliver this season, so the blinkers are now applied.
His sole win over 7f came at cramped odds in August 2015 (for Sir Michael Stoute), with all three of his subsequent wins coming at the minimum trip; reliable of late, but hard to say how he'll figure upped from 5f.
Left Marcus Tregoning for 52,000 gns in October 2016, but never really threatened in four starts for this trainer in 2017 (Class 3-4); off for 378-days, dropped a further 5lb and eased in grade.
1-14, and has failed to match his early season form, which brought that sole success at Wetherby in June (7f, good to firm); blinkers are applied and looks handicapped to have a say if those aids have the desired effect.
His three wins this side of the Irish Sea have all come over the straight mile at Redcar, including off this mark in May; no concerns with regards the ground, so probably just a case of whether or not he fancies it today; blinkered.
Nine-race maiden who was picked up for just 4,000 gns in February (ex-John Gosden); off for two months prior to a much improved run over 6f here recently when chasing home Cale Lane; has stamina to prove over further.
Unable to unlock the door on turf (0-9), but tough to knock for consistency, and was beaten just over 1L from a 2lb higher mark here in June (6f) with the first and second both thriving since; respected, but stamina is the worry.
Hadn't shown much until just denied (by a short-head) when upped to this trip at Yarmouth last week; same rider booked in a slightly stronger race, but one to consider, especially if the application of cheekpieces helps to eke out more improvement.

Pursuing Steed (5/2), Tukhoom (9/2), Alba Del Sole (11/2), Musharrif (6/1), Munthany (17/2), Sunstorm (10/1), Abushamah (11/1), Ghost (12/1), Dasheen (12/1), Roaring Forties (20/1)
Not dissimilar to the first division, this looks potentially tricky to solve. A number of those predicted to be towards the fore of the market have to prove their stamina over 7f, with the likes of Alba Del Sole, Ghost and Musharrif all more accustomed to racing over 5f and 6f. However, equally some of those with 7f winning form aren't in the best of fettle lately, so neither of that trio can be totally discounted. Seeking a solution, small stakes can be played on SUNSTORM. Although it was only a moderate Class 6 handicap at Yarmouth last week, he took the step back up to 7f in his stride, and the first-time cheekpieces could help to eke out more improvement.
- Sunstorm
- Alba Del Sole
