Winner of this last year (3lb higher this time) and looks to have been lined up for another crack at it after a respectable seasonal debut at Doncaster in June. Small break since then ideal, ground should be fine, and a big run looks on the cards.
Improving filly this season, winner of two of her last four runs at this trip and Goodwood victory last time (well on top late) was in better class. 6lb higher here but conditions likely to be fine and might not have finished improving yet.
Another that's improving quickly now, Newbury win last time has had form boosted by the second running well since and he should handle the slower ground. Up another 5lb but yard have decent record here and, in a tricky contest, has chances.
Just had the three starts, and after an easy win when making all at Salisbury over this trip last time, she falls into the "could be anything" bracket. Half-sister to the G1 winner Legatissimo and must be taken very seriously.
Her third to Agrotera in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot looks a very strong piece of form but two efforts since then haven't been up to that standard, and now she tries a new trip. Others make more appeal.
Winner here on soft ground in May but that was over 1m and in lesser company, and as she didn't really convince at this trip when tried at it at Epsom last time, she has something to prove here.
Forecasts
Gumriyah (11/8), Caravela (9/2), Escape The City (5/1), Asoof (11/2), Empress Ali (9/1), Paramount Love (12/1)
EMPRESS ALI looks to repeat her win in this last year and the rain has come at just the right time for her. She may get an easy lead here too and looks the one to be with. Gumriyah is going to be well fancied and could leave this mark well behind, but does need to prove herself on slower ground. Asoof is another that will have improvement left to come and should make her presence felt. Caravela is the other to consider.
- Empress Ali
- Gumriyah
- Asoof
