Dutch Art colt who cost 70,000 gns as a yearling made an inauspicious start to his career when only beating one home in a 6f maiden at Hamilton on soft ground. Should improve for the run but stable going through a quiet spell.

Son of Kingman started out in a contest with runners from most of the big yards when well beaten ninth of 11 at Newmarket last month. Ran green there so hopefully improve now and some of trainer's two-year-olds need first run.

Improved on first run when a good second on the AW at Wolverhampton over 7f last time. That form probably sets the standard so if as effective back on turf he is surely a leading contender.

Newcomer by Cityscape out of an unraced dam from a sprinting family. Trainer just had four two-year-old runners this season all unplaced and best watched here.

Son of trainer's outstanding miler Kingman is half-brother to seven winners including St Leger third Michelangelo. Should appreciate further in time but likely know the job here for top yard with 33 per-cent strike rate with juveniles.

11L last of ten on debut at Leicester followed up by 10½L seventh of nine at Newmarket both over 6f. 50/1 in both races and can expect similar odds here. Looks the sort needing handicaps.

Promising third on debut at Doncaster despite showing signs of inexperience. Couldn't really build on that latest at Goodwood but doing best work late on there so could benefit for extra 1f here. Each-way potential.

Sea The Moon colt, half-brother to three winners including a Listed winner who cost 525,000gns as a yearling. Trainer's two-year-olds tend to improve for their first race but very appealing pedigree so expecting a good showing first time up.

70,000gns yearling by Sepoy out of a dam who won over 1m2f. All of trainer's six juvenile runners this term unplaced so doesn't look a likely sort first time up.

Forecasts

Private Secretary (5/4), Three Comets (3/1), Golden Valour (9/2), Multamis (7/1), Reeves (14/1), Constant (20/1), Tony Chestnut (20/1), Naughty Nigel (33/1), Purgatory (50/1)

Verdict

Multamis has the best form in this race based on his second at Wolverhampton on the AW last time out but while his experience is a valuable asset he doesn't look any superstar so a couple of newcomers are preferred. John Gosden does exceptionally well with two-year-olds (and older horses) and his PRIVATE SECRETARY makes great appeal as a half-brother to seven winners so he gets the vote. Three Comets, an expensive son of German Derby winner Sea The Moon is also respected and he should be capable of making his presence felt first time out.
  1. Private Secretary
  2. Three Comets
  3. Multamis
