His overall record is a poor one although he was never really given a chance on his debut for this yard and may be a little better than he's shown on that run. Under the same rider today and needs stronger handling to be of interest.

A winner here four times she turned in a rare poor effort around this venue last time struggling to get going. Well drawn today and has the assistance of one of the best amateurs around; could well bounce back around here.

Took 18 attempts to get off the mark but she did so in fine style at Ripon earlier in the week having matters quickly sewn up from a fair way out. Escapes a penalty for that run and has a fine chance of following up under a top amateur.

Helped by slipping below his last winning mark he returned to form on the Tapeta last time to get off the mark for the season over this trip. Back up 5lb for that victory which makes his task a stiff one here especially from his wide draw.

C&D winner although it's been a while since he last won but dropped to selling company last time he turned in his best effort of the season. First run for a new yard and should run well; has a wide draw to contend with.

Hardly a stranger to winning around here (five-time course winner) he's struggling to find his form despite a sliding mark. Down in trip now off a mark 9lb lower than he last won off he still needs to find some spark to be of interest.

Failed to stay the trip at Carlisle last time (1m1f) and is struggling to find his form this year having won two handicaps last year. This mark shouldn't be a problem but more needed before he's of interest even at this level.

Second run back from wind surgery and may have needed the run last time having been off 8 weeks. Mark has fallen well below the one that he last ran off but he has a fair bit to prove on what he's shown of late.

Veteran who ran with credit last time when taking 2nd at Brighton under today's rider who is now his regular partner. Certainly being given a chance by the handicapper now but he's never won at this trip and it may just stretch him.

Far from convincing so far for this yard and looks to have rather lost his way despite continuing to fall in the handicap. Not the most straightforward either and not hard to have reservations about.

Good amateur on board and this dual course winner off higher marks last September is nicely drawn here. Ran well enough on his latest start to confirm that he's in form and should be good enough to get involved here.

Three-time course winner who is very well handicapped now often hampers her chance by being slowly away. Has ground to make on Vigee Le Brun on Ripon running and a place may be the limit of her ambitions.

To all intents and purposes this course winner has failed to build on her first run of the season where she had shaped quite well. Cheekpieces go back on but despite a career-low mark others are higher in the pecking order.

Her record now stands at 0-20 with her recent starts not really suggesting that her record is going to change for the better any time soon.

Forecasts

Vigee Le Brun (8/11), Arcane Dancer (9/1), Make On Madam (9/1), John Caesar (10/1), Red Charmer (14/1), Billy Bond (14/1), Mr Cool Cash (14/1), Dark Confidant (18/1), King Of The Celts (25/1), Graceful Act (33/1), Dutch Artist (33/1), Swiss Cross (33/1), Wasm (40/1), Zarkavon (100/1)

Verdict

No surprise to see connections get out VIGEE LE BRUN out quickly after her saunter to victory on at Ripon on Monday in an apprentice event and therefore she gets no penalty here. With top-class amateur Simon Walker booked she’s sure to be very popular in the getting out stakes. She has been placed here before although there are plenty in opposition that have good course form amongst them Make On Madam and King Of The Celts although those two will have to improve to get involved. The main danger looks to be John Caesar who scored back-to-back victories here last year and has run well enough of late to have a good chance of at least at place in this.
  1. Vigee Le Brun
  2. John Caesar
  3. Make On Madam
