Made the most of an easing mark when recapturing (and bettering) his early season form when winning at Ascot (5f, good to firm) last month; different ground conditions today (does handle cut).

Beat Blue De Vega by a neck on similar terms at Thirsk in May (5f, good to firm), but unlike that rival has taken a couple of backward steps since; no issues whatsoever with soft (or even heavy) ground; stable in form.

Returned to form with two 5f wins, including when scoring comfortably in a Hamilton conditions event; opposition probably stronger today, and whilst effectively the pick of the weights, debatable as to whether or not he's a true 100-rated horse.

Bolted up by 6L on soft ground as a juvenile in the 2017 Super Sprint Stakes (Newbury); didn't quite fire over 6f at York in June, but rates as a major player on his Newcastle Class 2 handicap second in March.

Forecasts

Tarboosh (11/10), Bengali Boys (9/4), Blue De Vega (4/1), Soie D'leau (15/2)

Verdict

As always, these Conditions Stakes races are trappy affairs. Tarboosh is the form horse, but whether or not he's a true 100-rated performer must be open to discussion. Blue De Vega is in much better shape than his May Thirsk conqueror Soie D'leau, so he rates as the chief danger to the sole three-year-old BENGALI BOYS. Few will forget how he blew the opposition away in the Super Sprint Stakes of 2017, and with plenty of cut in the ground today, he's taken to record an overdue first success since.
  1. Bengali Boys
  2. Blue De Vega
  3. Tarboosh
