First-time visor fitted on this gelded son of Captain Gerrard who has yet to make his mark in four starts. Showed little on handicap debut at Wetherby over 1m2f so connections will hope the drop back in trip helps his cause.

Ran respectably on two visit to the AW track here last winter, and may have needed the run on turf debut at Newmarket two weeks ago. Eased 2lb and wears first-time cheekpieces so may do better.

Fairly disappointing in five starts for George Scott, although did a little better when third in mile selling handicap at Yarmouth last time. Makes debut for in-form yard and good jockey booked, so signs are an improved display is hoped for.

13-race maiden but was a fair third over C&D in June before missing out by just a neck here on the AW next time. Clearly not easy to win with and needs things to drop her way.

Made promising handicap bow when runner-up over 6f at Salisbury in May, but hasn't really reproduced that form in six starts since and is now 11lb lower. Is tricky at stalls and tends to be slow away, but top apprentice has been booked.

Hinted at a modicum of ability in first four starts before a better effort last time when third of 14 over C&D two weeks ago. Eased 1lb despite that so has a chance if able to build on latest run.

Showed next to nothing in three runs last term, but did better when seventh at Kempton in April, in touch until stopping quickly over a furlong out. Returns from wind surgery so not out of it if that has helped her breathing.

Forecasts

Quick Recovery (9/4), Slipstream (5/2), Popsicle (9/2), Mostly Green (9/2), North Bay Sunrise (5/1), Vodka Pigeon (5/1), Ipsilante (10/1), Vlannon (11/1), Freebe Rocks (12/1), Thunderhooves (16/1)

Verdict

A race of overwhelmingly disappointing performers can go to MOSTLY GREEN, one of the few to have shown even modest form in recent starts. Slipstream may go well on his first start for a handler who has a habit of improving his recruits, and Ipsilante is worth a market check as she returns from wind surgery. North Bay Sunrise is another to consider, while top weight Vlannon may do better for the drop back in trip and the addition of the visor.
  1. Mostly Green
  2. Slipstream
  3. Ipsilante
