Just 3-34 wins to his name but had no luck last time over C&D on only second start for current handler, hampered twice at crucial stages but still going down by just half a length. With better luck this time he rates a strong contender.

Won three this spring and had a troubled passage here last time when fifth. Might have gone close but for that so should be there or thereabouts this time in first-time visor.

Infrequent winner (1-20) and probably found the drop back to 7f against him last time having been regularly campaigned at a mile. Eased 2lb though and not out of it if things go his way back at this longer trip.

All four career wins have come on AW but nothing since February 2016. Has run respectably this term without threatening to trouble the judge and it could be more of the same again this time.

Four-year-old maiden who has had just the five starts so far. Showed some ability in maidens and returned from break to run modestly in maiden handicap at Wolverhampton latest. May be better for that run but has to improve.

Only win came on turf over 6f and tried mile for first time on latest outing, appearing not to see out the trip. Connections try again, but big fear she may run out of puff in home straight.

Scored over C&D off this mark last October and after period in doldrums recovered from slow start to finish close fourth at Wolverhampton latest. Back up to mile so has to enter the reckoning.

15-race maiden tries blinkers for first time having run poorly at Yarmouth last wek over further. Previously shaped with some promise here after a long break so not completely out of it if headgear sparks some improvement.

Result Amended

Purple Rock - Original Position 5th. Amended Position 4th.
Banta Bay - Original Position 4th. Amended Position 5th.

Forecasts

Purple Rock (7/4), King of Dreams (10/3), Pass The Cristal (5/1), Coverham (6/1), Buckland Beau (7/1), Chosen World (16/1), Mississippi Miss (20/1), Banta Bay (33/1)

Verdict

The top two in the handicap are probably the ones to concentrate on with PURPLE ROCK suggested as the likely winner having looked very unlucky here last time out. Coverham also ran into trouble here in a different race last time and rates a danger, while down at the foot of the handicap Banta Bay may run better than his form figures indicate off a light weight and with blinkers added for the first time. King Of Dreams and Pass The Cristal aren't out of it either.
  1. Purple Rock
  2. Coverham
  3. Banta Bay
