Went agonisingly close last week having looked the likely winner a furlong out. Only 1-28 but this claimer has that one win and three seconds in four rides on her. Due to race off a 4lb higher mark next time and will cope if conditions turn soft.

5lb higher than when winning a weak race at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) three starts back. Turf form not as good and others are preferred here.

Easy winner at Bath in May and not quite at that level since. Drop in grade and booking of talented claimer must help, plus the yard's horses are in excellent form.

Unplaced on all 11 starts including when dropped to a basement mark last month. Cheekpieces helped a little but she has been extremely poor on all three turf starts.

Had an official rating of 28 before a flattering effort in a Salisbury contest. Well beaten last of eight at Lingfield two weeks ago and that appears to be a more accurate reflection of her ability.

Verdict

Stuart William has his team in good shape and Jan's Joy romped home two days ago. She made short work of a moderate bunch that day and faces better rivals here on a quick turnaround. That makes her worth opposing and MOTHER OF DRAGONS comes into this on the back of another good run under today's pilot which puts her 4lb well-in this afternoon on a track that will suit her style of racing. Cent Flying is the other to consider under Jason Watson, who is effectively a professional claiming 3lb, and that puts him on an attractive mark now dropped in class.
  1. Mother of Dragons
  2. Cent Flying
  3. Jan's Joy
