Has been putting in some solid performances in defeat before routing his field over 1m6f (good to soft) at Newmarket last time. Up 5lb for that, but usually consistent and is entitled to plenty of respect.
Has scored over this trip on soft ground and is best on good or slower. 5lb lower here than when 1½L second at Ripon (1m4f) in April. Well held in all four starts since and, although now well treated, he really needs some rain.
Has improved this season in handicaps, winning twice over this trip on fast ground at York and more recently Newmarket. Up 6lb and also in grade here, but there looked to be more in the locker last time. Short-listed.
Won on fast ground for the first time at Hamilton last month (1m5f), for which he has gone up 6lb and in grade. Ideally wants further than this, so he will need a genuine gallop to be seen to best effect. Not ruled out if he gets that.
At his best when there is some cut in the ground and all three wins have been recorded on good to soft/soft at 1m4f/1m5f. 8lb higher than the most recent of those at Hamilton, and has a bit to prove on that basis and also after his latest effort.
His last four wins have been shared between Ripon and York at this trip. Mark is just a little on the high side gauged on what his CV shows, but not easy to rule him out of the prize money.
Forecasts
Reverend Jacobs (4/6), Star Of The East (9/2), Mukhayyam (8/1), Tor (12/1), Grandee (14/1), Bolder Bob (16/1)
Fascinating stuff here, with several of them in with a shout and the suggestion is REVEREND JACOBS, who is still on the up and has conditions to suit. Any rain would help Star Of The East, who has to be much respected after his display last time, and it would also suit Grandee. Tor could come into it late on if they go a good clip.
