Finished seventh in two 5f maidens last month at Windsor. Likely to benefit for this extra furlong but unlikely to find the significant improvement required to play a leading role.

Beaten 12½L when ninth of 11 here on debut last month over 7f at odds of 150/1. Trip today might be more suitable but looks likely to be a rank outsider again.

Newcomer by Zoffany cost £75,000 as a yearling, dam won over 6f and 7f. Stable run three here and more than capable of winning with debutants so the market will be informative regarding expectations.

€75,000 daughter of Charm Spirit is a half-sister to five winners including a couple at two. Speedy enough pedigree to think she can go well first time so market check worthwhile like the other Hannon pair.

Two races so far have seen her fourth of six at Leicester and eighth of 16 over C&D latest. Magnetic Charm was third on debut the last day so it's hard to see her finishing ahead of that rival so place chances at best.

Nicely bred Exceed and Excel filly made a most pleasing debut over C&D last month when staying on in taking fashion to finish third of 16. Should have learnt plenty and looks sure to play a leading role here.

Dark Angel filly showed promise on debut at Newmarket's July festival when 6L sixth of 11 over 7f. Tired late on in what was probably a warm contest there so 6f may suit and with promise of improvement she should go well.

Failed to get competitive in two maidens to date with the latest seeing her finish 9¾L 10th of 16 over C&D. Looks like the sort who will step straight into handicaps after today.

Outran odds of 40/1 on debut at Windsor when staying on fourth of 14 despite playing up at the start. Shade disappointing next when fifth of seven at Sandown with Winter Light well ahead in second. Extra 1f should suit.

Bated Breath filly ran with great promise on debut at Sandown over 5f. Slow away there and ran green before the penny dropped and she finished best of all for second. Certain to improve for the experience and extra 1f will suit so leading candidate.

Magnetic Charm (10/11), Miss Serenity (3/1), Winter Light (4/1), Shape Of Water (6/1), Enchanted Linda (12/1), Symphony (20/1), Dinas Powys (20/1), Riverwing (33/1), Lady Mona (50/1), Athena Star (100/1), Boorowa (125/1)

Verdict

WINTER LIGHT was a real eye-catcher on debut at Sandown where the further they went the better she got. She will improve no end for the experience and an extra furlong here. Chief danger looks likely to be William Haggas' filly Magnetic Charm who also ran a race full of promise over C&D on her debut last month. Richard Hannon's two-year-olds always merit maximum respect and he runs three here so it would be a surprise if one didn't get involved. Shape Of Water makes most appeal as a half-sister to six winners.
  1. Winter Light
  2. Magnetic Charm
  3. Shape Of Water
