Already a C&D winner in maiden company he was highly tried last time in the Newbury Super Sprint (finished a creditable 8th). Now makes is handicap debut back up to 6f of what looks to be a workable mark; shortlisted.
Held back by inexperience on his debut he looked a different sort when winning on his next start over 6f winning going away. Looked the sort for longer trips but struggled around a bend over 7f at Haydock; happier back on a straight course.
Hasn't so far matched her AW win (sole synthetics start) with any of her runs on turf. Didn't run badly on turf last time back at 6f (win came over 7f) last time making her handicap debut but of more interest back on the AW.
Third on all his first three starts he looked uncomfortable over 5f last time even with first-time blinkers to help him. Now returned to 6f he has disappointed once before over this C&D and now makes his handicap debut on his 5th start.
Like many in this he's making his first foray into handicaps and he did produce his best performance last time over C&D pushing an odds-on favourite close. May well have had the advantage of the best track position though but enters calculations.
Only had the three starts so far but hardly unexposed having been placed on all her starts so far giving the handicapper plenty to work on making her first start in this sphere. Should run her race; mark looks testing enough on what she's done.
Looks fairly limited on what she's shown so far and failed to beat a rival home on last two occasions. Tried over 7f on her last two starts (unsuccessfully) and now brought back to 6f on her handicap debut; others make more appeal.
We saw a little more of her ability last time out where she progressed from her first two runs and looked as though she would be suited by 6f. Just out the handicap here and may need an easier task but one to note when she gets an ease in grade.
Forecasts
Howzer Black (11/8), Iconic Choice (9/2), Princes Des Sables (13/2), Zebzardee (7/1), Samantha James (9/1), Spirit Kingdom (12/1), Jordan Electrics (18/1), Northern Society (20/1)
With all bar one of the field making their handicap debuts this is a complex little puzzle to work out. Kevin Ryan won this last year and he runs Princes Des Sables but she looks a little exposed even making her debut and Iconic Choice is preferred to her with a return to a straight track and a stiff 6f looking to be something that will prove ideal for now. HOWZER BLACK 8th in the Super Sprint last time wasn’t disgraced in that race and now shoulders top weight on his handicap debut but that may not stop him. Jordan Electrics is another to consider having run well here before.
