Not especially well drawn he comes here on the back of a couple of poor runs (slow away both times) after being mildly resurgent in the earlier part of the season. Has won over C&D in the past off a much higher mark and out of this down in grade.

C&D winner when resuming winning ways on her penultimate start producing the end product for once that has been often missing from recent efforts. All her wins have come off marks of 60 and below and she has to prove herself off a higher mark here.

In good form on the AW (Fibresand) around the turn of the year over this trip he is a past C&D winner off a much higher mark (unlikely to run to run to that mark now). Looks to have gone off the boil for now although he does drop in grade.

Until her last run hadn't really got going this year but she's never been the most consistent although there was some hope in her last run at Haydock. Would look well handicapped if she could build on that run now off a career-low mark.

Built on some earlier eye-catching runs at Nottingham and Wetherby over slightly further when taking a 5f event at Beverley last time off a reduced mark. Low mileage for his age and in good form; this sharp 5f may be just a little too quick for him.

In the form of her life last year when clocking up five wins and rising 16lb in the handicap with her final win of the season coming over C&D. Not returned in the same form though and ran poorly last time; now 5lb below her last winning mark.

Yet to win a race he has intimated on one occasion that he was capable of doing so since moving to this yard from Ger Lyons. Has looked as though he will be better suited by 6f though and now tried in a first-time hood back at 5f; others preferred.

Marginally out of the handicap as she was last time when running poorly at Beverley having looked as though she might be coming back to some sort of form the time before. Only modest and needs others to run below-par to have a chance in this.

Failed to show much ability when with Iain Jardine and has fared no better with his current yard. Now 0-16 he was poorly positioned over C&D last time after a slow break and makes limited appeal.

Forecasts

Pea Shooter (10/3), Eternalist (7/2), Arnold (5/1), Dundunah (5/1), Kinloch Pride (8/1), Pearl Acclaim (8/1), Burmese Blazer (10/1), Mightaswellsmile (25/1), Griffin Street (50/1)

Verdict

A finale that lacks an outstanding option with most of these having some sort of question mark against them. Arnold would be the clear choice on recent form but this sharp 5f may just be too quick for him after he needed all of the stiff 5f at Beverley to get home last time; may be getting there too late. Eternalist needs to prove herself off this mark while Pearl Acclaim looks to have gone off the boil. Kinloch Pride for all she is below her last winning mark hasn’t fired this year at all but Dundunah has been given a chance by the handicapper if she can build on her last run. A chance is taken on PEA SHOOTER finding his form again as he drops in grade having won over C&D in the past.
