Runner-up off 2lb higher mark at Ludlow in October, and ran well over timber penultimate start when second at Southwell. Returns from wind surgery so not out of it despite top weight if his breathing has been corrected.

Failed by just a short-head over this trip at Ffos Las last time out on first attempt stepping up to this trip, but 6lb rise since then looks harsh. Quickening ground should be no problem though.

2-3 over fences, only defeat coming on soft ground. Battled on well to land Uttoxeter handicap chase in May last time out. 6lb higher but goes well fresh and has conditions to suit, so looks a contender.

Has won 10-43 in commendably career to date, three wins coming over fences. Outclassed in listed Summer Cup at Uttoxeter last time but been given some leeway by the handicapper and shoulld go well at this level.

Beaten favourite in muddling three-runner novice chase last time, but may do better on handicap bow off a feasible mark. Previously looked progressive so looks one for the short list. for in-form yard

Good second off this mark at Ffos Las in May but ran no sort of race last time out and first time cheekpieces are applied to help concentrate his mind.

Both jockey and trainer in tremendous form this summer and looks stable first-string. Third at Aintree in June but hasn't conclusively proven his stamina at this trip. Race may be run to suit though and won't be far away.

Fort Gabriel37
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-13| J: Harry Stock(5)| T: D G Bridgwater| OR:  122| BF| D

Won 4-11 over fences at this trip and further since joining current handler in June last year. Running off highest ever mark having gone up 3lb after latest third at Worcester and may finally be in handicapper's grip.

The Clock Leary16
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-10| J: Lorcan Murtagh(5)| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  119| CD

Disappointed on last six outings since scoring at Perth in September. 3lb lower though than when winning this race 12 months ago so a good effort could be in the offing with solid rider claiming further 5lb.

Shady Glent30
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-10| J: Kielan Woods| T: D Killahena & G McPherson| OR:  119| D

Last three wins all came at Market Rasen, but faded tamely at Worcester last time and looks as though he may find this a tough task on that evidence.

Premier Kingp,t7(ex 7)
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-7| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR:  109| D
6/5
Lightly raced ex-Irish 10-year-old has won both starts at Uttoxeter since joining top yard just one month ago. Scored by country mile there last week and carried penalty, but may take some stopping off light weight if in the same mood.

Forecasts

Premier King (6/5), Above Board (9/2), Scoop The Pot (8/1), Lofgren (10/1), Marquis Of Carabas (12/1), Fort Gabriel (12/1), Ozzy Thomas (14/1), Walt (14/1), Shady Glen (33/1), The Clock Leary (33/1), Sporting Boy (33/1)

Verdict

A decent race of its kind for this time of year and a chance for the bang in-form ex-Irish PREMIER KING to complete a four-week hat-trick after hacking up at Uttoxeter last week. Above Board is a promising type but has a task on conceding 13lb to the selection. He should go well though, as too should the McCain pair of Lofgren and last year's winner, The Clock Leary. Scoop The Pot in another with claims as he makes his handicap chase debut.
  1. Premier King
  2. Above Board
  3. Lofgren
