Won this race last year, a third Group 2 success and given a remarkable ride from last to first that day, but couldn't match the form subsequently. Well beaten over 1m½f on return but not ruled out back in trip and any rain would bolster his claims.
Won a valuable Meydan handicap this winter and got his head back in front in a Group 3 at Haydock. Ran with credit in the Diamond Jubilee last time when sixth of 12 and he's won on softer ground earlier in his career. Not ruled out down in class.
Not the most consistent sort but did win a Group 2 as a juvenile and won twice at Haydock last year including a valuable handicap. Not disgraced in Listed class at Leicester last time but he will want the ground to turn soft to be seen at his best.
Won this race in 2016 and gained another C&D success in a Group 3 last year. Ran well in the Lockinge on return and while he's been a beaten favourite twice since, his course form counts for plenty here; a return to form far from ruled out.
Has won three of his four starts, most recent win came in Listed class when getting the better of Donjuan Triumphant. Non-runner when the ground was fast at Haydock last month and there's a suspicion he wants soft ground to be seen at his best.
Game winner of the Sussex Stakes here last year when the ground was bottomless and his best form has come in rain softened conditions. Yet to hit any sort of form this year and seemingly better over further than this.
Gelded prior to his Group 3 success at Chantilly last year. Well suited to cut in the ground and has run okay in a pair of Group 3 races for his new yard but has a bit to find at this level.
Has won twice this year, taking his form to a new level when winning a Newmarket Group 3 last month. Good fourth in the July Cup on latest start and a reproduction of that would see him go close but he probably wouldn't want the ground to turn soft.
C&D winner in 2015. Not won since a 7f Listed success at Haydock at the start of the 2016 season but running well in defeat of late, including when second in a below par Group 2 at the Curragh last time; probably vulnerable again up at this level.
Group 2 winner over this trip at the Curragh last year. Below par in three of his four runs this time though and the yard have been quiet by their own standards in recent weeks. Others preferred.
Grade 1 winner at Keeneland in 2017 and generally a consistent sort. Took a couple of runs to get going this year but his effort at Ascot last time was much more encouraging, where he probably he hit the front too soon. Claims if building on that.
Group 2 winner in Doha at the start of the campaign and ran a huge race in the 2,000 Guineas when runner-up. His effort last time out at Royal Ascot gave the impression his progress may have plateaued but not ruled out down in class here.
Forecasts
Sir Dancealot (5/1), Tip Two Win (5/1), D'bai (11/2), Suedois (7/1), Emmaus (7/1), Spirit of Valor (8/1), Dutch Connection (12/1), So Beloved (16/1), Breton Rock (20/1), Karar (20/1), Here Comes When (20/1), Donjuan Triumphant (33/1)
SUEDOIS returned to form with a smart effort last time out when probably hitting the front too soon and with a more conservative ride, he ought to make his presence felt in a race that should suit. D'bai is seemingly a seven furlong specialist and he wasn't disgraced in a competitive Group 1 last time over an inadequate trip. The other Godolphin runner Dutch Connection has three course and distance wins to his name, including his win in this race back in 2016 and it would be no surprise if a return to Goodwood sparked a revival.
- Suedois
- D'bai
- Dutch Connection
