Won a couple of races over this trip at Catterick in May and June in but found things tougher there most recently upped into this class. 7-26 on the Flat, needs to dig out more.
Good second here over 1m5f penultimate outing, then produced career-best in winning five-runner handicap at Musselburgh (2m, good) six days ago. Had run of the race, but should go well under a penalty.
Off the mark over similar trip on AW at Newcastle penultimate start, perhaps not suited back down in trip there since. First turf run for this yard and something to prove on this surface.
Successful over 1m7f on heavy ground here last October. Disappointing since and best form has come with plenty of cut in the ground.
Victorious over 2m at Musselburgh (good-to-firm) for Iain Jardine in July 2016. Only raced once since, making debut for this yard over shorter trip here in June and failed to see it out. Watching brief.
Hurdles winner here in May over 3m trip, some promise on Flat return / debut for new handler at Pontefract in June but not as good since at Doncaster. May needs to drop in the ratings.
Two-time course winner who was completing the hat-trick when winning off a 4lb lower mark over 1m7f (soft) here in October 2017; two smart efforts here recently 1m5f-1m7f and needs to be considered for this pot.
Narrowly got the better of Question Of Faith over 1m7f here in June, but much more moderate in both start since; failing to beat a rival home having raced in rear here over 1m5f latest. Uncertain stayer.
Forecasts
Question Of Faith (5/2), Tyrell (7/2), Italian Riviera (9/2), Golden Jeffrey (11/2), Buonarroti (9/1), Braes Of Lochalsh (12/1), Sugarloaf Mountain (14/1), Hillgrove Angel (20/1)
A competitive race, QUESTION OF FAITH wasn't beaten far behind Braes Of Lochalsh here in June and has held her form nicely since (while the winner has faltered). The Yeats mare is still on a decent mark and could be up to winning this event. Musselburgh winner Golden Jeffrey had the run of that race but isn't to be dismissed too hastily under a penalty while Italian Riviera may also be capable of getting involved in the skirmish for places.
- Question Of Faith
- Golden Jeffrey
- Italian Riviera
