Won this race last year, mixed bag of fortunes and failed to fire last time at York. Likely this has been in the notebook for a while, will benefit if there is a good early pace on.

Already scored twice this year over 1m½f-1m2f, will act on quick surface no concern and went with ¾L of Listed win at Sandown last time. Down in trip, with first-time cheekpieces on and rates a leading player.

Two wins from five starts this year, including last time out at Haydock (7f, good) in pleasing style. Placed last summer in Group 3 at Goodwood over 7f, Listed AW winner in the past. Might find things tough at the death around here over a mile.

Couple of win over 1m-1m2f on the AW at Chelmsford earlier in the year, faces a tough-looking task back on turf on these terms.

Not disgraced in the Racing Post Trophy on final start as a juvenile and ran well behind a promising sort at Ascot on his return. Most recently finished 1½L second of 12 to Naval Intelligence in Listed race at Newmarket (8f, good) this month.

Couple of win at Hamilton and Ayr already this month, went up significantly in trip for tilt in Listed company at latter track nine days ago and ran well enough whilst perhaps not getting home. Interesting down in trip, though has been very busy.

Forecasts

Gabr (11/8), Big Country (10/3), Another Touch (7/2), Ventura Knight (7/1), Salateen (14/1), Secret Art (25/1)

Verdict

Salateen is in good form and is well capable of mixing it in this company but would arguably prefer 7f. He may need some help to get home. Last year's winner Another Touch on the other hand likely needs a strong gallop, and might get that from Secret Art. Gabr ran a cracker in this grade at Newmarket recently and has fair claims on that showing but BIG COUNTRY also went down fighting in a Listed event at Sandown over further recently and will suited dropping back. The cheekpieces might see him eke out a bit a bit more and land this pot. Ventura Knight is worth another try in Listed class down in trip, but is turned out for the fourth time in 26 days.
