Hasn't won for three years when scored off mark of 95 at Doncaster. but has run a number of good races in defeat. Down now to 85 so has been given a chance. Wears first time cheekpieces.

Runner-up in 2016 Stewards' Cup for the late Dandy Nicholls. Not won since that campaign and has become difficult to catch right. 7lb lower than start of season so handicapper is relenting and a bold show could be on the cards now.

Made 525,000 guineas as a yearling but resold in February for 60,000 guineas despite winning only start of career at Wolverhampton for Richard Hannon. Shaped with promise in two starts for new yard and makes handicap debut. Could go very well.

Thirsk specialist who went close there off 1lb lower mark last time out. Similar sprint track here offers hope of another good run and should again be thereabouts.

Scored at Thirsk last term at this trip off mark of 73 but returns now from eight-month absence and usually needs a couple of runs to find his form. Others are preferred this time.

Verdict

It's interesting that David OMeara chooses to take on seasoned horses with GIANT'S TREASURE on his handicap bow and the hint should be taken. This expensive yearling hasn't yet lived up to expectations but has ability and may make up for last time now. Orion's Bow has fallen to a tempting mark and shouldn't be far away, and it's a simliar story with Red Pike. The Armed Man is running well at present and, if he runs here after Pontefract on Friday, top weight Powerallied won't be far away either.
  1. Giant's Treasure
  2. Orion's Bow
  3. The Armed Man
