Winner over C&D and a recent Catterick winner over this trip where he capitalised on a falling mark. Turned in a poor run here last time though and needs to bounce back from that in a similar contest.
Looked back to form last time at Wetherby wearing a hood for the first-time with the race not really falling in his direction. Now 1lb below his last winning make with cheekpieces added to his hood; not been fortunate with a wide draw though.
Yet to win a race but did show that she still had some ability on her return and being given a chance by the handicapper now after two further modest outings. Not overly well drawn but should be able to make some sort of impression.
Out-and-out speedster who loves to go from the front and is quite well drawn to do so here having won over this C&D twice. Back down to his last winning mark again after proving more miss than hit of late but the type who can bounce back quickly.
Not the easiest to win with and often promises more than he actually delivers and has done just that on his last two starts. Likely to be seen travelling well in most parts of the race it becomes a question of him finishing the job off.
Has been rather in-and-out in her four runs for this yard having looked to be heading in the right direction before running poorly last time out at Musselburgh (5f). Now drops to a career-low mark but does need to show more before being of interest.
Latest win came here in June over this trip under today's rider ending a long losing run but failed to match that form last time. Not the most consistent sort but does have the plum draw here and won't surprise to see him bounce back.
Some ability remains but it is only modest these days and comes off a basement mark. Last two runs have shown some modest form and she needs to be able to better those runs to take a hand here.
Losing run now stretches back as far as September 2016 and her latest runs have hardly been an inspiration. Hard to make a case even in this lowly grade.
Three runs in handicaps so far have shown him in only a modest light and he was soon beaten over 6f last time. Now back at the minimum trip off his lowest weight yet. Too soon to totally write him off and with a yard that are going well.
Forecasts
Etienne Gerard (7/2), Arnold (9/2), Pearl Noir (11/2), Groundworker (13/2), Donny Belle (8/1), Mr Strutter (8/1), Cardaw Lily (12/1), Gorgeous General (12/1), Mightaswellsmile (12/1), Thornaby Princess (33/1)
Arnold looked to be rather unlucky last time out when the gaps never came for him and he’s been rather unlucky with the draw here being positioned right on the outside of this field. Things may drop right for him but he’ll need some luck in-running. Pearl Noir has run well here before while Groundworker is the sure traveller in the race he just needs to finish the job. It was no surprise that ETIENNE GERARD failed to follow-up his win here but a return to this C&D may spark a revival. Mr Strutter is another who is capable of better form than his last run and he’s not out of this along with Donny Belle.
- Etienne Gerard
- Groundworker
- Arnold
