Course winner here last July, and on a fair mark based on his close sixth over slightly shorter here in May. First run back from wind surgery when well beaten over C&D last week and needs to do more.
2

Chanteclert32
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-10| J: Harry Reed(5)| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  106
10/1
Hard to win with having only won once in his career. Tends to run his race but others make more appeal for win purposes.
3
Horse silk
No No Legend29
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-9| J: Theo Gillard(7)| T: Mark Gillard| OR:  105
33/1
Shaped with hints of promise over hurdles so far. Makes handicap debut on what looks to be a realistic mark on just her second start for this yard. Has potential to do better.
4
Horse silk
Borak23
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: Robert Williams(3)| T: B J Llewellyn| OR:  103
5/1
Has bounced back to form to win his last two. Raised another 4lbs in the weights for an all out victory last time and will need to do a bit more to pull off the hat-trick.
5
Horse silk
Friary Gold38
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: R Johnson| T: Katy Price| OR:  100
11/2
Much more promise the last twice since switching to handicaps. Shapes like this step up in trip will suit and looks certain to win a race of this nature sooner or later. Sound claims.
6
Horse silk
Beau Philh,t8
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Nick Scholfield| T: J Scott| OR:  98| C
18/1
Course winner (sole success) who's form has become a bit patchy of late. Pulled up here over further last week and needs a sharp return to form to be considered. Others preferred for now.
7
Horse silk
Sweeping Rockp48
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: J E Moore| T: J L Spearing| OR:  98WS
14/1
Has just looked a bit slow of late and like a bit further may well help. Never on terms at Fontwell when last seen in May. Has a wind operation on the back of that so interesting to see what the market makes of him off a fair mark.
8
Horse silk
Percy Thrower29
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-1| J: Charlie Hammond(5)| T: S-J Davies| OR:  100
33/1
Long standing maiden on the flat and hasn't given too much encouragement over hurdles so far. Makes handicap debut off a harsh mark considering what we have seen and others are preferred.
9
Horse silk
Ange Des Malberauxt168
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-12| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR:  94
1/1
On a very workable mark at present and has joined a yard that are excellent at improving recruits from elsewhere. Tongue-tie goes on for the firs time and a big run is highly likely.
10
Horse silk
Bumble Bayp,h,t30
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-9| J: T J O'Brien| T: R Stephens| OR:  91| C
12/1
Hasn't been seen over hurdles for almost a year. Flat from of late is nothing to shout about but won here off a 8lb higher mark in the past so you can make a case of sorts.
11
Horse silk
Kublai18
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-9| J: Adam Wedge| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR:  91
33/1
Last win back in November 2015 was off 24lb higher, but he hasn't been in anything like the sort of form required to bounce back recently.
12
Horse silk
Ruby Russett29
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-5| J: T Scudamore| T: C L Tizzard| OR:  87WS
8/1
Been struggling for form of late and has now had a wind operation since her last run. Cheekpieces are dispensed with here but tongue-tie stays on. Needs to do more.

Forecasts

Ange Des Malberaux (1/1), Borak (5/1), Friary Gold (11/2), Ruby Russet (8/1), Chantecler (10/1), Bumble Bay (12/1), Sweeping Rock (14/1), Treasure The Ridge (16/1), Beau Phil (18/1), Kublai (33/1), No No Legend (33/1), Percy Thrower (33/1)

Verdict

Borak comes here in fine fettle chasing a hat-trick but he was all out last time to hold on so may find this higher mark tough going. Friary Gold looks sure to be winning in this sphere sooner rather than later and today could be the day. ANGE DES MALBERAUX has joined a yard that do very well with recruits from elsewhere and with conditions perfect, he could take some stopping.
  1. Ange Des Malberaux
  2. Friary Gold
  3. Borak
