Tough type who appears to have been constantly on the go but has won his last two and now tries to follow-up his good Haydock win under a 6lb penalty. That win came in a better race than this (well positioned) and he can't be ruled out of this.

All his wins in GB have come at Ripon and he clearly enjoys that track although his last two starts (one at Ripon) have been disappointing. Now 3lb above his last winning mark it does look as though the handicapper may have caught him up.

You have to go back a few years to find his best form and it would be a surprise if he could match that now. Often a slow starter he has run well below-par on his last two starts looking awkward and not one to rely on.

Improving sort who scored in decisive fashion last time to record his third win for the yard since arriving from Ireland. Still fairly-lightly raced he looks to have more progress left in him yet; even off his highest mark is a leading player here.

Delivered a good comeback run at Ascot in May off a 3lb higher mark but hasn't really been able to come on for that start in two attempts since. Wore blinkers (first-time) on his last start (missed break) and best watched.

Course winner over a longer trip and a 7lb lower mark he's shown some up well off higher marks in two Hamilton handicaps since. Not suited by the run of the race last time (held up in slowly run affair) he looks sure to produce another bold bid.

Coming back to his best after recording another placed effort at Wetherby last time coming from off the pace once again. This is probably a little tougher than he's used to though and from 5lb out of the handicap he faces a stiff enough task.

Forecasts

Aasheq (15/8), Jabbaar (3/1), Rainbow Rebel (7/2), Western Duke (7/1), Mutamaded (12/1), Maghfoor (14/1), Battalion (40/1)

Verdict

The Old Newton Cup winner Rainbow Rebel isn’t given any time to rest on his laurels turned out quickly again with a 6lb penalty giving him a hefty weight to carry although he does have Franny Norton a master around here doing the steering. He’ll need a strong gallop again though and may have to make his own running and that could make him vulnerable to the ever improving AASHEQ who looks capable of winning another handicap to add to the three he’s racked up of late. Jabbaar is another who is worthy of plenty of respect as he’s already a course winner while the likes of Maghfoor and Mutamaded will have to find their best form to get involved in this.
