Running consistently well since being awarded the race (1m, good) by the Windsor stewards in April, but the presence of a talented 7lb claimer on his back seemingly tells the tale that his trainer believes he now resides on a challenging mark.

Won over 6f here on seasonal debut in June (firm), before a much lesser effort at Wetherby (5.5f) latest; upped in trip now with stamina to prove from a mark 4lb above her winning perch; strong rider aboard.

Has tried cheekpieces seeking an improvement (not exactly forthcoming), so now it's the turn of a visor in the bid to break the maiden tag at the 11th attempt; very risky.

Nine-race maiden who finished second on soft ground at Yarmouth (1m) in May, but has largely failed to step forward since on a faster racing surface. Cheekpieces now applied seeking a breakthrough.

Backward as a juvenile, and hasn't raced on turf since August 2017; had shown some marginal improvement on the AW in 5f-7f handicaps, but that's faltered of late, hence the return to turf; eight-race maiden.

No promise in her first five starts (7f-1m2f), but fared better for the application of blinkers at Bath recently (1m, firm) and this drop back in trip looks to be the logical next step on the basis of that much improved showing.

Fanfare Lady21
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-8| J: Nicola Currie(3)| T: W J Knight| OR:  45

Six-race maiden who doesn't exactly help herself at the start (regularly slowly away); excuses aside, looks to be comfortably held by both Bombshell Bay and Chizz De Biz on previous course form.

Kylie Style13
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-8| J: K T O'Neill| T: Steph Hollinshead| OR:  45
14/1
14-race maiden who continues to slide down the weights, but essentially doesn't look good enough to thwart that win-less sequence anytime soon.

Cruel Clever Cat15
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-8| J: Gabriele Malune(5)| T: J Gallagher| OR:  45
10/1
Ten race maiden (5f-6f) with very modest form, but it is worth pointing out as she steps up in trip that her dam Satin Braid was a 1m AW winner; hard to consider.

Forecasts

Bombshell Bay (11/8), Chizz De Biz (7/2), Patty Patch (9/2), Cruel Clever Cat (10/1), Valerie's Memory (12/1), Kylie Style (14/1), Fanfare Lady (20/1), Expediate (25/1), Elite Shadow (33/1)

Verdict

A modest finale in which the top-weight Bombshell Bay is the most consistent, but equally residing on a difficult looking handicap mark hence the presence of the talented 7lb claimer Seamus Cronin on top. In truth this race makes no appeal whatsoever for punting purposes, so keeping it simple, yet still searching for some value, it could be worth chancing that the blinkers will continue to aid VALERIE'S MEMORY. She had appeared to be devoid of ability prior to her most recent start at Bath, but if allowed a similar uncontested lead tonight could have just enough about her to cling on over a shorter trip in a weak race.
  1. Valerie's Memory
  2. Bombshell Bay
  3. Chizz De Biz
