Made all to win at Leicester (6f, good to firm) last week, in what was a significantly-improved effort. Had almost 4L to spare, which suggests that he has every chance of defying his penalty over this shorter trip.
Won a Pontefract novice event over this trip last year and would look well handicapped based on some of his subsequent juvenile form. However, way off that so far this term and now has to prove he retains that previous ability.
0-13 and inconsistent. Was beaten just 1½L here from 1lb higher last month. If in that form then you could make a decent case for him, but disappointed again last time and he is not easy to back with any confidence.
0-12, but was running creditably in defeat on his first three starts of the season, all over 6f. Out of sorts when last at Brighton last time. Needs to bounce back and this drop to 5f does not look ideal.
25-1 but ran well on his recent handicap debut at Windsor (5f, good to firm), finishing 1¾L third from today's mark. Has something to build on there, is unexposed and not ruled out.
Best effort so far was when narrowly beaten at Catterick (6f, good to soft) in October, for George Scott. Now 8lb lower, after three hefty defeats for this trainer this season. Cheekpieces on and well handicapped if he can bounce back.
6lb out of the handicap and has barely got competitive in any of her nine starts. Blinkers now on, but can only watch.
Forecasts
Mountain Peak (1/2), Q Twenty Boy (5/1), Palmer (11/2), Indian Warrior (11/1), Brandy Station (25/1), Zizum (66/1), Go Sandy (80/1)
This looks a good opportunity for MOUNTAIN PEAK to follow-up his recent Leicester win under a penalty. Admittedly, he drops to the minimum trip, but he didn't look to lack the necessary speed last time. Q Twenty Boy made an encouraging handicap debut and could finish among the prizes. Brandy Station, Palmer and Indian Warrior can't be ruled out, but all have something to prove.
