Best effort of the season last time (blinkers on first-time) at Ripon (only win came there); kept on well from back off a steady pace. Deserves a little extra credit the way the race was run and dropped 3lb; has to prove she can build on that run.

Still not performing at his best although he did put together a creditable effort at Redcar (1m6f) last time. Now back on his last winning mark if he can find his old form and get away to a better starts (tends to dwell at stalls).

Hard to say that he's running well at the moment failing to build on a little promise that he had shown on his penultimate start last time over 2f further. Slipped 4lb below last winning mark if he can show some spark; wide draw hardly helps.

Dual course winner over shorter with those victories coming with give in the ground (the second of a higher mark than today). Very in-and-out form this year though and needs to improve on what he's done so far over a significantly longer trip.

Profile hardly inspires as he was pulled-up over hurdles when last seen and running poorly on the Flat also. Cheekpieces now added for the first time but hard to recommend based on recent evidence.

Finds it hard to put two decent runs together of late and despite a step in the right direction on his penultimate start he disappointed again next time. Looks well treated on his old form but hard to think that he's going to produce it.

Certainly looks as though she is capable outstaying her pedigree with her best recent run coming t Carlisle over 1m3f. Not quite in the same form last time (over shorter) but a return to a staying trip may help.

Hasn't exactly looked to have been wanting a trip such as this (pedigree suggests shorter is ideal) and ran poorly on his return to action at Carlisle (1m1f). Blinkers now go back on and join the tongue-tie worn last time; others appeal more.

Pulled-up when last seen over hurdles and now returns to the Flat; not disgraced on that occasion making his turf debut over C&D. Mark still looks a stiff one though despite the steady drop for his initial rating; will do well to win off this mark.

C&D winner but in the main looks vulnerable to younger legs these days with the majority of her runs this year being below-par. Off a basement mark now (8lb below her last win here) and needs a strong pace if she were to be seen to best effect.

Spoilt his chance to follow-up his Redcar win (1m6f, good) when failing to settle from the front at Wetherby over the same trip. Had pulled quite hard in his win also so obviously needs to settle if he's to win again; drawn wide here.

One of three runners for the yard his best run in handicaps came last time out at Redcar (behind stablemate Lever Du Soleil). Would have fared better if he had settled. Lightly-raced so still time for him and looks as though this trip will suit.

Forecasts

Lever Du Soleil (7/4), Claramara (10/3), Midnight Warrior (9/1), Exclusive Waters (10/1), Surrender (11/1), John Caesar (12/1), Cool Music (12/1), Power Sail (12/1), Melabi (20/1), Flower Power (25/1), Tiger Twenty Two (33/1), The Jungle Vip (40/1)

Verdict

A race that throws up more questions than answers with last year’s winner Cool Music returning for another crack that win being the last she recorded and like a few she could do with a strong gallop. Most of the older horses look fairly exposed and vulnerable to the three-year-olds although Exclusive Waters would have a chance off this mark if he can find his old form. Tim Easterby fields a strong squad of three-year-olds with a trio of representatives with Lever Du Soleil already having a verdict over SURRENDER. That Redcar form may be reversed here though with the latter of that duo better drawn; both need to settle though. Midnight Warrior and Claramara two others to add to the mix.
  1. Surrender
  2. Lever Du Soleil
  3. Exclusive Waters
