10/11
Decisive winner of a divided Class 6 1m handicap at Newcastle on Thursday and carries a 6lb penalty as a result; unexposed after just eight starts; holds a further seven provisional entries on July 5th-6th.

Still early days for this Bated Breath gelding in handicap company, and he can be excused his latest mid-division finish in a competitive race at Beverley (1m2f); place prospects.

Knight In Armour13
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-8| J: J Fanning| T: C & M Johnston| OR:  61| BF
9/2
Nine-race maiden who was a beaten favourite on his most recent outing at this track (1m1f, soft); likes to race prominently and that often makes him vulnerable late on, but this shorter trip/quicker ground could prove helpful.

25/1, but posted a creditable handicap debut when beaten less than 1L over C&D last month (soft) - form franked with Party Fears Too also scoring at Newcastle on Friday; vastly different ground conditions today.

Morettih11
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-6| J: D Tudhope| T: D O'Meara| OR:  59
9/1
Six-race maiden who has raced consistently since introduced to handicaps, staying on late over 1m at Wetherby latest (fourth); worth a go over further but does need to progress in order to break the maiden tag.

Seven-race maiden who has shown no worthwhile form for over 12 months; falling in the weights dramatically but needs the application of blinkers to hold the key.

Stablemate of Alabanza; but essentially very disappointing since a fair debut over 5f here in June 2017; now an eight-race maiden and has failed to make any impact whatsoever in handicap company.

Formerly with Marco Botti, but moderate in both starts for this trainer (6f-7f) and tough to build a constructive argument with regards her chances.

Rock On Bertie7
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: D Fentiman| T: N Tinkler| OR:  48
25/1
19-race maiden who has under-performed throughout the course of 2018 (1m-1m2f), and despite looking capable of winning a small race as a juvenile perhaps simply hasn't trained on into a 3yo.

Massive odds and well beaten on all three starts in Irish maidens (7f-1m2f); market check advised on handicap debut with an eye-catching jockey booking, but he'd be a surprise winner nevertheless.

Brough Lane Lass31
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: Phil Dennis(3)| T: J R Weymes| OR:  45
100/1
Five-race maiden who appears to be very light on ability; well beaten in both handicap starts so far, including when dwelling over 7f at Musselbugh last month.

Tweetingp124
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: Jason Hart| T: J & S Quinn| OR:  45

Not made much noise so far (6f-7.5f) including in selling company; handicap debut off a lowly-mark in a weak race (wears first-time cheekpieces), but equally makes no great appeal.

Forecasts

Where's Jeff (10/11), Knight In Armour (9/2), Breathable (6/1), Moretti (9/1), Alabanza (12/1), Rock On Bertie (25/1), Flying Focus (28/1), Little Poem (40/1), Silvington (50/1), Tweeting (66/1), Eva Docc (80/1), Brough Lane Lass (100/1)

Verdict

The advice can only be to focus on those towards the top-end of the handicap with Thursday's Newcastle winner WHERE'S JEFF rating as the rather obvious selection despite his 6b penalty. Whilst that wasn't a strong race on Tapeta, this almost certainly isn't either and he looks to be the type to run up a rapid-fire sequence of wins with a plethora of entries already made for later this week (on Thursday and Friday). Of the remainder, preference is for Breathable.
