Off the mark with a win at Bath here were excuses for her two defeats prior to her bouncing back to form to win at Chepstow (1m2f); just held on. All her best efforts (and wins) so far have come on quick ground; little more needed under a penalty.

Scored a quick hat-trick at the start of the year on the AW improving just under a stone in the handicapper's eyes. Left poorly placed when bidding for his four-time he looked to need the run on his recent turf return; quickly eased 4lb for that run.

Twice shaped better than the bare result in maidens and took another step forward last time on handicap debut. Still looks as though he is learning (did too much early again) but has potential in him off this mark; looks one to note (more to come).

Gained his mark via minor events on the turf before running all his handicaps on the AW performing consistently without looking ahead of his mark. Returns from a fair break now back on turf but looks vulnerable to any improving sorts in the field.

Four runs as a juvenile all came over shorter trips and rather predictably he's stepped up in distance for his turf/handicap debut. Given his pedigree will be far more suited by this 1m2f; remains with potential and likely to be of market interest.

Given a fairly busy time of things as a two-year-old and got off the mark at the 9th attempt when enjoying the Fibresand surface over 1m. Kept mainly to mainly varied AW surfaces since then she looks high enough in the weights for this contest.

Yet to race on turf she took a significant step forward on her handicap debut upped to this trip after a 5 month break. That was in a lower grade than this and she will find this tougher with the new surface an additional unknown.

Forecasts

Kabrit (4/6), Juneau (7/2), Thistimelastyear (8/1), Praeceps (10/1), Surrey Blaze (16/1), Couldn't Could She (20/1), Good Impression (25/1)

Verdict

The handicap that KABRIT finished third in at Sandown last time looked a stronger race than this and there was very much an element of him still learning his trade within that race. He runs off the same mark here and still has potential to do better in this. Juneau is now saddled with a penalty for a narrow Chepstow win and whilst she should run her race more is needed due to that impost. Praeceps is sure to be of interest in the market given his profile and it won’t be a surprise to see a better performance from him and support to come in the market. Good Impression is likely to run his race but does look vulnerable off this mark along with Surrey Blaze.
  1. Kabrit
  2. Praeceps
  3. Juneau
