Narrowly beaten over this trip at Chelmsford on his penultimate outing. This looks more suitable than the conditions event he contested at Hamilton last time.

Best form has come on hte AW including when winning off a 3lb higher mark at Kempton (6f) in April last year. Below par on turf in recent starts and a return to this surface should see him in a better light.

Verdict

STAXTON, the sole three-year-old in this contest can register his third career success in what looks a highly competitive sprint handicap. The selection ran well in a valuable race last time out and is taken to get the better of Summerghand who has been in good form on turf this season and boasts an impressive record on the AW. Third place can go the way of Solar Flair who should appreciate this return to the AW while top weight Ekhtiyaar is another to consider following a couple of promising efforts this spring.
  1. Staxton
  2. Summerghand
  3. Solar Flair
