Doesn't have that many miles on the clock for one of his age and he's looked better than ever of late winning his last two (beat a recent winner last time). Won two from three for this yard now and looks sure to go well again over this longer trip.

Not really back to the form of last year and this trip does look a little on the short side for him these days on the evidence of his last run at Chester over 1m4f. Lurking just 1lb below his last winning mark though and dangerous to totally dismiss.

Started the season on a career-high mark but has quickly slipped back down to his last winning mark (82) and steps back down in trip by 3f from his last run. Acts on quick ground but all his winning form has come with soft in the description.

Jury is still out on this one this year as although he stepped up on his return run it's still not clear how much ability he retains. Raced of the pace last time at Chester and struggled to get competitive; remains above his last winning rating.

Previously with William Haggas he's not quite hit the mark yet for this yard and looked to be putting in less than his full effort last time. Can be slowly away and take time to get going this trip may suit but doubts remain.

Not the most straightforward of individuals and failed to build on the promise of a previous run last time at York. Head carriage can be rather high and although he has ability he looks one to treat with caution.

In good form this year winning three races overall and two of his last four. Not ideally placed when beaten last time and ideally needs a strong pace to aim at to be seen at his best; more needed to get involved.

Newcomer to handicaps having only had one run as a juvenile before winning on his first start this year in a 1m novice. Didn't appear to enjoy the quicker ground at Doncaster last time and now steps up in trip; one to note in the market.

Confirmed the promise he had shown in a couple of previous starts when striking over C&D last time (career-best) and looking to be up the up. Drew clear readily to win by 4L and looked to have more in hand and respected even with a 6lb penalty.

Verdict

Another competitive handicap and with Tim Easterby having a good chance of landing the Bell he’ll also fancy his chances of landing the Plate via Aasheq who is progressing nicely and for a five-year-old has very few miles on the clock; there may be more to come. Roar returns North (trained there last year) having run well on his first start for this yard but may need a bit more give in the ground while Tor (may need a stiffer test) is respected. The Navigator hasn’t had much experience but looks the type for this on handicap debut but it’s the other three-year-old in the field AD LIBITUM that appeals the most. He looked impressive here last time winning with something in hand.
  1. Ad Libitum
  2. Aasheq
  3. Roar
