Pulled-up on chasing debut last time out, so no surprise to see him revert to hurdles here. Second at Ludlow prior to that but not quite so good on previous start over a staying trip.

Made a fair return to hurdles at Warwick last time out, also over a staying trip, though other recent form much less encouraging.

Far down the field on his only two starts so far this year, and looks set for another minor role against some much more in-form rivals.

First run over hurdles since this race last year but has been running well on the Flat in the interim. Career-high mark but this weight shouldn't put him out of it.

First run for this yard having finished second at Huntingdon on final start for Chris Gordon, but general form leaves him short of the required standard here.

Still well-beaten by the winner when second at Fontwell last time, and liable to find things difficult up a further 4lb in the weights.

Beaten just a nose at Bangor last time out, though he probably should have managed to win more races (particularly over hurdles) than he has, he still looks on a workable mark.

9/4
Hat-trick seeker who has won weaker handicap hurdles the last twice, though worth a chance at this level up another 5lb in the weights.

Forecasts

David John (9/4), Mogestic (9/4), Timeforben (11/4), Tea Time Fred (4/1), Calin Du Brizais (8/1), Linguine (10/1), Lake Shore Drive (14/1), Royal Supremo (16/1), Night Generation (33/1)

Verdict

Hat-trick seeker Mogestic steps up in class but needs respecting given the form he's in, but preference is for TIMEFORBEN. David Pipe's mare was a winner at Worcester when last seen, and though she's up 5lb she is progressing nicely, hasn't all that much racing and should handle conditions well here. She is taken to take another step forward at the expense of last year's runner-up Lake Shore Drive.

  2. Mogestic
  3. Lake Shore Drive
